from NFL roughdraft.com
Just came across this and I like the first 3 picks. I believe there's some fans of Barwin on here as well.
23. New England Patriots: Connor Barwin, OLB, Cincinnati
Connor Barwin is the most underrated player in the entire draft.
He can rush the passer as well as anyone in this class and he’d most
likely also see time at tight end with the Patriots.
34. New England Patriots: Sean Smith, CB, Utah
Smith is a big physical cornerback that has the potential to be a star.
He is the type of player that the Patriots have missed since they lost Ty Law.
47. New England Patriots: Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan
The Patriots continue the rebuild of the defense. New England really needs to add youth on that
side of the ball and Delmas is arguably the best safety in the draft.
58. New England Patriots: Shawn Nelson, TE, Southern Mississippi
Ben Watson was not as productive as the Patriots needed him to be in 2008.
They went out and signed Chris Baker, but Baker is nothing more than a blocking tight end. Nelson had a great Combine
and established himself as a top notch prospect who can block and catch very well.
89. New England Patriots: Gerald Cadogan, OT, Penn State
The Patriots need to upgrade the right side of their offensive line. With
so many picks in the first three rounds there is no reason why they can’t.
97. New England Patriots: Trevor Canfield, OG, Cincinnati
Canfield would make a push to start at right guard as a rookie. At worse, he’d probably be the
primary backup at the position.
124. New England Patriots: Mike Goodson, RB, Texas A&M
The Patriots seem to draft a running back every year. Goodson is a speedy back who catches the
ball well out of the backfield.
170. New England Patriots: Hunter Cantwell, QB Louisville
Matt Cassel is gone so the Patriots need some depth at quarterback. The big knock on Cantwell
was his long windup delivery. Well he cut down on his delivery and worked on his mechanics and is
just as accurate if not more accurate than before. He has a good arm and makes good decisions.
199. New England Patriots: Antonio Appleby, ILB, Virginia
The Patriots have a ton of picks so they can take chances and Appleby has a lot of talent
and could fit in the 3-4.
207. New England Patriots: Zach Potter, DE, Nebraska
Potter is a perfect fit at defensive end in the 3-4. He is a big guy but just a little undersized
for a defensive tackle.
234. New England Patriots: Brian Hartline, WR, Ohio St.
Hartline is a tall strong receiver. He came out early which was surprising.
