I'm still exceptionally confident in Jackson - but he's had a bad drop in each of the last two games - he needs to catch the ball to have Brady keep throwing it to him. That said, he also has two TDs in extremely limited time.

Bad drop? One was knocked out of his hands by a DB and the other the ref clearly got in the way. This kids hands are not in question at all.

Great article!

I don't remember the ball being knocked out of his hands in the Miami game on the sideline pass, maybe I'm wrong.

But the Buffalo drop was a bad drop. Sure, he was distracted by the ref but the ball hit him in the hnads - sorry but you have to catch that.

Maybe, but he didn't have much time to see the ball coming. That same ref caused a fumble, that dude was a ball hawker.

I should just post this in my sig I paste it so much....but for all those concerned about a couple drops:

I'd love to see the one-handed-catch-while-opening-bleachers-gate on You Tube, but I'd guess it's a pretty forlorn hope.

Funny, YouTube at one point had a Chad Jackson high school video with a couple of clips in there, but it looks like its gone now.

Yeah, we've all seen it, we need to see it in games too. I am not IN ANY WAY down on the guy but he has to catch the ball. Consistently. In games. Even when distracted by a ref (Bills game) or a defender (Jets game).

Right, well, I think he's had a total of 8 balls thrown his way this season thus far. We'll need a bigger sample size to make a judgment, but like I said in another thread, I'd much rather have relatively high hopes than be constantly skeptical. That's no fun.

And he's dropped 3. That's all I'm saying. I think he'll be good. But, distractions or not, he needs to catch more balls that are placed right in his hands.

Eh. He'll be fine. Growing pains. I'm going to stay positive and enjoy watching the kid come into his own. Patience...

yes he has had some drops, not unlike all the recievers we have except Troy Brown. But he has made some spectacular catches as well.

the 2 td's of course. How about that catch versus the Jets where the ball was under thrown and he had to reach behind him over the defenders back to make the catch.

What i like about him is he creates seperation between the defender which is something i haven't seen alot of this year from our corps, though last week it seemed to get alittle better. Brady has been missing on alot of deep throws when the reciever has a step or 2.

Let's see if he's as willing as David Givens was ...
to coax the Jugs machine into throwing him a hundred passes
every day of the offseason.

Sure worked for David !

Despite my words here, I don't think Jackson needs the machine. I think his hands are fine. I think it's just a little bit of anxiety, wanting to make a big play and, yes, there have been distractions on most of those drops. I think his hands are fine as is - but he has to start showing it.

For some reason, I'm not at all worried about Chad Jackson. I think he's going to be very, very, good in time. How soon? Maybe not quite fast enough to suit everyone, but he strikes me a good kid who is just going to take a little time to grow and mature, then watch out NFL...
