BB values experience at LB. Whether you want to call that "smart" or "veteran" or "old" is just a matter of semantics.

He has clearly shown an aversion to drafting & playing "green" LBs. Even brining in Colvin & Beisel, who are the youngeset guys he was after, he came after them after their when they hit FA in their 4th or 5th years. And those are the only guys in his 20s I think he has ever gone after.

And his utter lack of drafting LBs (what has he taken, like 3, despite everyone always clammoring we need "youth") shoudl tell you all he needs to know about his wanting experienced LBs.

Experience at LB is fine but BB's LBs need more than just experience in the
NFL. They need experience in his system. Brown with tons of experience
couldn't cut it last year and Beisel struggled. Remember Brown talking
about how difficult it was for him. Phifer knew his system. Name one other
guy in his 30's, besides Phifer that BB brought in though FA that started.
Brown doesn't count as he couldn't handle it.

Vrabel was only 26 when BB brought him in. Someone said 30.

Now if BB gets a 26 to 30 yr old and has time to bring him along for a year
or two and the LB is smart enough and talented enough then it works out.
But at 33, the LB may be 34 or 35 before he GETs IT!

Some one said he likes older LBs. Not true. Yes he tends to get experienced
LBs in their late twenties. Edwards does not fit that trend.

With regards ot Harrison someone mentioned. The LB position in BBs system is
much more demanding than the saftey position. Ask Brown.

Maybe BB will take a chance on Edwards being able to pick up his system
at his age. Then again if there is a youger experienced smart LB out there
I still think that BB would go with him over Edwards especially at the cost of
Edwards and the after the Brown experiment of last year. IMO.
