Playoff performances? Brady's last4 or 5 playoff games have been abysmal.

And you spelled intangibles wrong. It's spelled D-E-F-E-N-C-E.

Brady's recent losses have featured total team collapses or epic defensive meltdowns. Peyton's have been largely QB malfunctions... Adam Vinatieri kicked him into the one SB the Colts won, against a Rex Grossman led team we demolished in the regular season, and his rookie/jag RB tandem got robbed of their co MVP because the media couldn't not give it to Peyton. Brady led four potential 4th quarter game winning drives in his 4 SB appearances. Just scored too quickly on that last one...

You do realize Manning has had a top 10 defense about as many times as Brady has, right? And out of his last 4 playoff games, he's had a terrible one (Baltimore), a bad one (Chargers), one in which he played reasonably well, considering the circumstances (Giants) and one that ranks probably top 10 on the best playoff performances of all time (Jaguars). Sure, that equates to all of them being abysmal.

And that's leaving out the fact that when Manning finally got over the hump, he was carried by his defense in the playoffs in a way no other quarterback has ever been. His 3 TD 7 INT performance that postseason still ranks as the worst of all time by a SuperBowl winning QB. Get your facts straight.

Huh? You spelled it wrong too!

Defence and Defense are both correct. The first is the British spelling and the second is the US spelling.

Synovia - Not sure how you can say that 4 of the last 5 of Brady's play-off performances were abyssmal. The last 5 include the 2006 Play-off game against Indy in which the Pats had lost their top 3 RBs to injury by the 4th quarter.

Brady was pretty damn good in that game against Indy. Had Hobbs not been incorrectly called for Face guarding and had Kelvin Hayden been called for PI in the Endzone, the Pats win that game. Did Brady throw an interception to basically end the game? Yep. In desperation since the defense had allowed Manning and Company to get down the field. in under 2 minutes.

As for SB42, Brady's play was "abysmal" due to the horrid play of the O-line. The QB can't do much when he's getting sacked or pressured on every other play..

Eric Alexander was our leading tackler in that game, but I guess we lost because of Brady.

two facts I have come across which shows Manning is not as good as Brady, in my opinion at least.

1. Mannings playoff stats for the year he won the superbowl was the 2nd worst of all time for a QB during the year they won the superbowl. So he has 1 title, and he played as poorly as any superbowl winning QB.

2. If you look at all of Mannings individual game performances, regular and post season, 3 out of his 5 worst game were playoff games. This is using QB rating, which I realize is not the best of stats to use, but you got to use something. So Mannings worst game ever have come in the playoffs.

I think Manning is a great QB, but I think Brady is better.

Alot of people use the fact that Manning has better regular and post season stats. True, they are close, but Mannings are without a doubt better. My arguement is, they should be. Manning plays more then 50% of his games in a dome and has had much better offensive talent surrounding him then Brady has. He has had both Harrison and Wayne for 10 years or more each. Imagine Brady with that!

One other fact which I think supports Brady.

Tom Brady was less then 1 minute away from going to the superbowl (and probably winning it) with Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney as his #1 and #2 WR.

Brady has struggled in a few playoff games, but abysmal is a bit of an exaggeration. The Ravens game last season and Chargers game in 2007 were pretty bad, no doubt. But the Giants game, despite the outcome, was pretty solid especially considering how much pressure he was under. The Jaguars game was a record-setting performance. And the 2006 AFCCG loss to the Colts was a pretty good performance as well, as he actually had a higher passer rating than Manning.

Regarding intangibles, just want to add you won't hear Brady claim after a play-off loss that, "I am going to try to be a good team mate here, but we had our protection problems."

As for defense, the Patriots have been better statistically, but the Colts have been much better offensively. They're totally different teams with totally different styles that help account for the differences in both areas. As an example, the two teams played very different styles early on. The Colts play a lot more no-huddle, while the Patriots, especially early in Brady's career, focused on ball control and clock killing. Home environments and weather make it a difficult comparison as well.

But since 2001, the Colts have won 105 regular season games, the Pats 107, so you can't really say either formula wasn't as effective as the other. During that time, Brady went 14-4 in the play-offs, and only once was he one and done (last season). Manning went 9-9, which would be much worse if the defense didn't carry him to 4 straight wins in 2006, and went one and done 6 times.

Manning is a great QB and I understand the arguments for him being the GOAT. I'd still rather have Brady though.
