Carucci: Pats still interested in Peppers [merged]

Re: Reiss: Peppers chatter persists

That's the 1 player I hated(still do) seeing get away.

Hes my #2 w/ Law being #1. But there is that whole "is he worth the money" argument again. Could the Pats have signed him to a reasonable deal in 2004? I mean, look what he got from Denver. IMO Grahambo was not worth that deal when he got it and is still not worth it.

3/6/2007: Signed a five-year, $30 million contract. The deal included a $10 million signing bonus and a first-year roster bonus of $5 million. 2009: $3.2 million, 2010: $3.8 million, 2011: $4.2 million.

I think he's overpaid, but almost all of them are.
I do miss that tenacious blocking though, guy was pretty ferocious for a TE.

He's a ball player, plain and simple.

Lombardi was just on NFL network, he was asked about Peppers and if I heard it correctly he said something like Peppers is probably going to be more interested in finding a team that can contend for a championship rather than making top dollar. Any catch the around the league segment where he was talking about it to make sure I caught it right?

Florio says that Schefter says that Peppers is out of Carolina.

Yeah no way Carolina tags him again he is all but gone, real question is how much cash is he trying to make and who pays him.

Given all the cautionary spin emerging about him (could be a career killer, won't perform once he gets his long term deal, doesn't love the game, disappears, will be lucky to see $10M per) it will be interesting to see who bites and for how much and whether they win GM of the year or get canned in the aftermath...

I just can't see BB bringing him into this current environment even at a discount. Back in the day, maybe, but there was not discount then...now there's no veteran leadership let alone with the cache to indoctrinate him in the Patriot way...

I agree, without a good core group of Veterans like Bruschi,Vrabel and Harrison in the locker room I don't really know how much good a high priced guy like Peppers would bring to a young defense - Peppers is coming from a team with a solid group of veterans and thier defense was a good reason why the Panthers have been competitive most of last decade.

Bears fire exec who helped bring Cutler to Chicago

Yep, there are cautionary tales to be heard...

A public admission of poor judgement and execution perhaps?

Gotta wonder what Cutler thinks. Acutally, I'm sure he doen't care...
Cutler picked his new OC... :bricks:

They had to free up money to pay for the three new QB coaches they are bringing in for Cutler!

Not sure how that is going to work out. Seems like there are some headstong coaches there now before Martz got there. Not sure how he and Marinelli will play nice together...
