Meriweather shines; morning notes
by Paul Perillo, Patriots Football Weekly

...

When asked how much he’s spoken with Rodney Harrison, a veteran of 14 training camps during his distinguished career, Meriweather said something that could have him carrying more than his share of equipment off the field.

“That’s Rodney,” Meriweather began innocently enough as he lauded the influence the veteran has had on him. “He’s like my big brother, more like my dad.”

With that even Meriweather knew he was in trouble. A quick laugh and return to brother presumably got him out of hot water. But whether the quip gets him in hot water or not is irrelevant. The point is the kid is learning from the best, and Harrison’s influence can’t be a bad thing.

What happened to the "rookies can't talk to the press" rule? I bet Brandon wishes he had it in place still.

He's not a dead man...oh wait it's Rodney maybe he is

I could just be completely missing this but what did he say that was so bad?

Nothing they're just joking that Rodney wouldn't take kindly to being considered so old that a teammate thinks of him as his Dad.

Oh ok, I didn't get it either. But if you look at their ages, he might as well be!

funny stuff. I like this kid, and I'd love to see a string of "Meriweather shines"-type stories over the next couple of weeks. Last time we saw that kind of glowing testimonial was when our 2nd round WR was opening eyes all over Foxboro. What was his name again? Deion something...

Glad to see Rodney out to 'hurt' someone other than me.

Chad something?
