I think all the negativity portrayed on the message boards, sportstalk radio, TV etc. may have rattled them both a bit, as just about everything we know about the so called "break up" was based on conjecture, rumor and hearsay.. they may have done this to dispel many of the rumors.

Agree.

I don't think AG and Tom Sr. come out and blast BB without having heard Tom Jr. unload on them privately with regard to BB.

I have no doubt Tom harbored some level of anger or acrimony towards BB. Maybe even some hurt and confusion, too.

Its possible BB knew this and made the effort to explain, patch up, justify, smooth over, whatever his relationship with Tom. Because BB made that effort to spend time with him in the Bucs locker room, maybe Tom got the closure/explanation from him he needed and is now at peace. Who knows. Maybe BB needed it too. For the ways things ended for the greatest player he ever coached for 20 years had to have bothered him a little.

To me it's akin seeing a buddy you had a feud with years ago and upon seeing each other, both making an effort to share the whys and being genuine in making an effort to reconcile.
