how many of these does he have again? isn't it in the 20s ? I wasn't exactly sure.

21, I believe.

yeah, 21 in five seasons and counting.

since 2001, he's recorded more than any other QB in the league.

he's had 4 late comebacks (tied or behind) in the playoffs (3 in SBs, including 4 SB comeback drives in the fourth quarter).

the best comeback in terms of points, was the 21-point deficit (down 27-6 with 19 min left) in Chicago in '02...remember that last drive -- unreal! Snow Bowl might be the greatest, or the last game in '02 against Miami...nah, has to be scoring 10 in the last 3 minutes of SB-38...or the last drive in SB-36??

montana had 31 comebacks...not that he couldn't have had more, but he wasn't usually playing from behind. Elway/Marino both had around 50 over their careers, but they LOST as many close games as they won...Elway actually lost more close games than he won. To me, there are two John Elways, the one before he grew a chip on his shoulder and after. We could even go back to the original comeback kid, Bobby Layne, but even he blew his share of close games.

Under Tom's leadership, the Pats have only lost TWO GAMES BY SIX POINTS OR LESS (skins '03, miami '04)...unless you want to count the Miami game from last year which he sat out the last three quarters.

this is special folks. it's the reason they've dominated in the parity era.

we all realize it's a "team game." but it's just a damn fact that QB's have a lot to do with comebacks and winning/losing close games. This guy is quickly establishing himself as the greatest clutch player the game has ever seen.

Obviously you have to be on a pretty good team to have a large number of them or you'd never be in the position to comeback. But maybe not too good or your team would always have a big lead - Your D has to stop the other team. Your O teammates have to make plays.
It really is a team game. Not to dengrate the thread, but I for one, get tired of the media and some fans always interjecting indivdual records into it. I'd rather Brady never had another 4th Q comeback and the Patriots just won anyway.
Dan Marino has the most TD passes in NFL history and many other individual QB records, but he's always dogged because his "teams" never won a SB. I've seen Danny Boy play alot of games and in many, he was about as dominant individually as a QB could be. He often had to be. Had his "teams" won a coupla SB's, he might easily be considered the best QB ever. But he's not. Is that really his fault?
If Brady had his 20+ 4th quarter comebacks and whatever else his individual records are but the Patriots never won a SB, he'd just be a good QB.
I'm not even sure what I'm trying to say - Except I care a lot more about the Patriots, than any particular player or what record he may or may not set. I'm not saying anyone is saying anything different either. I think I'm losing my mind.

:agree:

The Pats have mainly loaded up on D, and have asked TB to get it done.

For the most part, he has.

Reminds me of Tom's own quote (which i'm sure is in somebody's signature here), along the lines of 'There are a bunch of guys in our locker room who are 9-0 in the playoffs... I'm just one of them'.

with apologies to our amazing team chemistry and our team leader's instinctive humility and liberal use of cliches...

YOU HAVE ALL BEEN BRAINWASHED.

QBs do not count as much as a DE or a WR or a LT. they are actually way more significant than anyone else on the team.

You can't have a great TEAM without a great QB -- Vince Lombardi said so.

It's the most valuable position in all of team sports.

sorry to spoil the pipe dream.

There have been exceptions.

2000 Baltimore Ravens QB Trent Dilfer...

When your defense allows an all time low (for a 16-game RS) 165 points and has a great running game, you could win as long as your QB doesn't make bad decisions. Then again, it wasn't as if the Ravens needed Dilfer to orchestrate a comeback victory against the Giants.
