Oh, really..? In what way has Tom Brady "cultivated a squeaky clean image"...? It seems to me that he has always been uncomfortable with that image and he has done everything he could to be seen more as one of the guys.

You're wrong. The media has annointed him as a clean cut all American boy. He has done nothing to market himself as such or try to stand out as more morally pure than any of the rest of us.

Seems to me that you're not nearly as much "in the know" as you think you are.

Stop drinking the kool aid and open your eyes to the real world. Everytime Tom Brady makes a commercial it's because advertisers love him for the clean cut image he has. He and his agent(s) know that. If you don't think he does, than you are incredibly naive. ALL Celebrities have an image whether they like it or not. That's what makes them celebrities in the first place, because people want to know more about them.

Sorry if someone has a different opinion. I happen to think that not everyone is perfect even if people including the media make them out to be. Anyone with half a brain will know that his image will take a hit whether he likes it or not because he's walking around with a new girl despite having his ex girlfriend proclaim to the world that she is pregnant with his baby. If you don't see it, then obviously you have less than half of one.

Does he care if his image takes a hit? I don't know. Frankly I don't care if it does nor not. But people who thought he was this all american boy will. Whether he worked on this image or whether it was bestowed on him by the media and his fans all know that his stock as an endorser will have likely dipped a bit because this situation was something we didn't think would happen to him. Again I don't really care if it does or not, but there are people who do. And if you believe that only Ron Borges is thinking this way means you are incredibly naive.

Wow, you can't take it when one person on this board has a differing opinion versus yours. I stated my position and when many others were not in agreement with my opinion, I respected their opinion. I didn't argue with anyone unlike you who obviously has to have everyone agree your opinion. grow up.

This is kids stuff. Rick Telander was savage in his recent attack on Brady (posted on thread a few days ago) and of course Telander played the race card AKA picking the low lying fruit.

Everytime Tom Brady makes a commercial?

You mean like that ONE time for Amex? LOL.

how many commercials have you seen Brady make?

I really liked how he walked around Saturday Night Live in his underwear grabbing women's breasts.

His agents told him to do that to boost his squeaky clean image.

They also told him to become a cad, booze it up in NYC, date underwear models, and watch porn, because that's the best way to land all the commercials he's making. Man he's on TV more than Peyton Manning.

Uh, what commercials..? I think you're getting Brady confused with Peyton Manning. Brady did a Satellite Radio commercial 2 years ago.. and then he did a Visa ad... I think right now he is in magazines with some watch company... But what are all these commercials you are talking about..? I think you're the one that needs to open your eyes to the real world.

Addendum: Notice how Brady's two major commercial campaigns ("My favorite receiver" and the "5 layers of protection") he insisted on bringing his teammates into the commercial with him...?

He became a celebrity because he is a Super Bowl Champion quarterback.

The image he never wanted (and has tried to shun) will take a hit, but not really a major one. It isn't like he robbed a convenience store or killed someone drunk driving.

I can respect an opinion that is based in fact and knowledge. Unfortunately for you, your opinion is based in an awful lot of ignorance.

Seems like an awful lot of people read Ron Borges, perchance he's not the dumfuk you make him out to be. He certainly gives the opposing view if your a Pat fan but he calls em as he sees em, to quote Casey. If a writer just puts out pablum no one reads his work but inject a prick of controversy into it and its front page news.
Brady doesn't have to be a saint, he is just a very good football player. Nobody knows "if he will do the right thing" because he has said NOTHING. In todays world what the hell is the right thing? I'll bet 80% of guys would bail and own up to nothing.

Nah, he's a dumfuk.

Borges is the type of guy that deliberately writes stupid things to get people all riled up and talking about him because, in his profession, it's better to have people talking about what an idiot you are than not talking about you at all. In this way he has also acted as a mentor to Michael Felger who used to be a clear thinking, level headed columnist (often butting heads with Borges, no less) but now, like Borges, he goes out and criticizes the Patriots unfairly in order to advance his own career.
