I would have gone with a more Boston-Centric approach.

Bill Russell introduces Charles Barkely to #33 (Just to make some people think a smidge more).

Russ has always been an edgy guy. Great to see that the fellow geezer still got game.

Barkley will never be the same after that

Where is your statue Charles??? Bill Russell is and was the man..

OMG, how many other innocent people were hurt in the blast?!?

Thread still sucks ass two days later. Destroyed? DESTROYED!? Lmfaooooooo.

No 'maybe' about it. Russell is the king of winning and the king can do no wrong.

It's totally true, but I'm compelled to point out that it became popular (initiated by stupid media) to make the statement in the context of the false pretense that someone other than Bill (Hint: initials MJ) is the greatest basketball player of all time.

While the premise of the thread is silly, this habit of his to give people the finger as a routine gesture, in a variety of settings, is kind of odd.

Bill has always marched to the beat of his own drum. Until very recently, he refused to sign autographs dismissing the whole practice as phony. And he never accepted or cooperated with common racist themes in society.

For example, when asked by Don Gillis if he felt any special significance being the first African-American head coach in North American professional team sports history, Russ said:

"No."

Bill's also a big fan of Mad Magazine
