I'm not a doctor and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express. I'm not even sure Amendola has a torn adductor. That said, here's an article on torn adductor tendons and the prognosis for recovery without surgery.

I was surprised to see that these doctors didn't think surgery contributed all that much to post-recovery level of play, although it's pretty hard to compare based on such a small sample set and who knows what their bias was (team doctors want players back on the field - surgeons want surgery).

Conclusion: Nonoperative treatment of proximal adductor tendon rupture results in a statistically significantly faster return to
play than does operative treatment in athletes competing in the National Football League and avoids the risks associated with
surgery while providing an equal likelihood of return to play at the professional level.

They give a recovery time of 3 to 9 weeks.

While it didnt prove true for Gronk one could assume that his increasing work load in practice since the injury could be a sign that it will lie on the shorter end.
