Before this thread gets tossed, let's have a little fun on a news free day.

It's half time, your team is flat. If they don't get after it in the 2nd half, the season could be over. The players have heard Knute Rockne speeches ad nauseum. Not this time. Cue the DVD player...

Movie: Predator
Scene: Arnold's mercenaries are thick in the jungle, scared sh**less after finding a fellow soldier mysteriously gutted, They unload maybe the greatest display of handheld firepower(gatling gun, grenade launcher, etc) in cinema history, strafing the jungle in every direction.

Movie: Slapshot
Scene: Paul Newman finally lets the Hanson Brothers into a game. My personal favorite sports action scene....ever

I have two: The post bank-robbery shootout scene in Heat and/or the Kilgore attack on the Vietnamese village in Apocalypse Now.

I'm guessing that you're too young to have lived through that War. The triviality of Kilgore's mission in wiping out that village (to secure a place to surf) in the face of the horror of war and the futility of that war is Coppola's transition to the river journey to find Kurtz and ultimately sets the context for Brando's soliloquy on "the horror." From this point on, the film is shot from an almost surreal, absurdist perspective.

It's an absolutely brilliant piece of acting by Duvall and of genius from Coppola, but not the stuff of halftime motivation. I'll stop there because a longer comment would take this thread way OT.

Search "Iggy Pop Search and Destroy" on YouTube for a great version of that scene plus a bit of "Full Metal Jacket" footage.

(Wagner can only take you so far...)

" I love the smell of napalm in the morning "... says it all about that damn war.

My vote would be Miracle on Ice.

Help me out here. What was the Nickname of the turncoat who ratted out Nixon to the Washington Post during Watergate?

Very inspirational movie!!
