Mandatory Minicamp 6/9-11

Kayshon Boutte will be present.

From the article:

I try not to buy into it. At the end of the day I can control what I can control,” Boutte said. “As long as I’m doing what I’m supposed to do off the field, everything else will play out.”

It seems like his head is in the right place. He had a great opportunity to talk about wanting out, and he didn't take it. He had the opportunity to do a hold-out or a hold-in, he isn't taking it. He realizes he doesn't have a lot of leverage and he's going to have to wait to see how things play out.

Yet, I'm sure the sports talk idiots will find a way to spin it...

If he does, hopefully that means an extension is coming.
I don't see us having much leverage with Gonzo. He is going to want to be paid like the top CB in the league and deserves to be. As long as its an extension and we can still max out the length of his rookie deal. Just hope he isn't looking to be the top paid defensive player in the league.

No one would pay Gonzo like the top defensive player in the league. That's currently Will Anderson at $50M AAV ($134M guaranteed). Certainly not the Pats. Any other team would have to trade multiple 1st round picks and more to acquire him, plus 60% above the current top CB contract.

RE: Boutte - I'd love to see him remain a Patriot. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense with role & targets, but the biggest factor is injury. We've always had some big WR injury in camp, which could make Boutte super valuable to still have. And you just don't know how well Doubs will catch on, or KW will make the leap? He's very mature & wise to show up and see how things play out.

RE: Jacas - he is the most important to have fully participate this week.
It'd be nice to have Boutte, Gonzo, Davis, Landry and M. Jones at mini-camp, but they wouldn't really lose much without being there.

But Jacas has a lot riding on him being a productive rookie at that spot. He better show up.

Jacas available status has been team managed. Reportedly from Nick cattles from patriots Locked on podcast he had been managing a Hamstring issue he had in college so the teams been managing it so he's ready to go with no issues.

Agreed. Gonzo and the team I feel are on the same page. Vrabel knows and alonzo Highsmith called him the best corner kn the league. They will get a deal done. It could be also Gonzo is leveraging What Witherspoon does with his contract as well. I believe they have the same agent.

Boutte has many reasons to show up for mandatory camp as posters have also mentioned injuries are a real possibility and Boutte has value here. Also Boutte is on a 6th round salary so it's not like he can give up money by not showing up to mandatory camp like say gonzo could afford. Good to see him attending.. it's better to be in a camp working on your skills then to not be if you're wanting a contract.

I'll saying losing hill sucked but It was still going to be Henry and Likely Raridon more involved in the passing game. Hill was signed to be that meathead, physical type block TE.

I think Boutte has real value. He's not a JAG - he's made himself into a solid player. His ceiling may not be much higher, but I would be pissed if we dump him for chump change.

The problem is (1) playing time and (2) contract extension. He likely wants more of both than the Pats can give him.

I'd trade him if the Pats can get real value in return to meet another need. Otherwise, someone else can overpay him in 2027 and we might get a comp pick.
