DRAFT Welcome to New England - Illinois Edge Gabe Jacas! (2nd round, #55)

Todd McShay's scouting report for Jacas at The ringer.

The money shot:

The Draft

Jacas’s athletic profile will keep him out of Round 1, but he will overdeliver for any team that invests in him early in Round 2.

I'm

I just read that Landry is listed as a lb,I thought he was thought his position was edge
Technically the Pats front is 3-4 so he is a OLB rather than a DE. Draftniks refer to all edge(OLB&DE) rushers as edge. Edge isn't an official position

I was reading this in a dark bathroom, looked up at the mirror, and saw it all over my face.

Thanks for that.

MikeV looked pretty happy when he talked to him on draft night.
I figured Vrabes would be over the moon to land him. I can’t help but think Mike will see a lot of himself in Jacas, attitude of not physically.

Is it sound to compare his RAS score with Keion White? Or different positions?
If comparable, I will like to see it for DE.

Looks like we have a psycho in the building…Love it.

Honestly, there are several times where I would not let Gabe practice because … he can just overwhelm and overpower people. I didn’t want to have a bad scenario. And you can’t tell Gabe to go slow. You can’t tell him to go half-speed. He only knows one speed,” Bielema said.

Bielema used a game from 2024 against Michigan to show teams during Jacas’s pro day. The film showed Jacas taking six different pass rushes lined up in five different spots against five different blockers, and he had a different approach for each one.

Wow, incredible article about Jacas. We got ourselves a playa.

Also good to hear such praise for Matt Patricia, a terrific coach.

4.65 40 with a 1.59 split for a guy that's 6'4 260? That's freakish.

THIRTY Bench reps, means he's also strong as an Ox.

Sure It might be useful to see additional numbers but he's got the most important traits.

FAST, STRONG, with Violent Hands.

I think Jacas can turn into a PLUS starter for us at Edge.

What I don't understand is how ANYONE with a 1.59 10 yd split is not considered "explosive", let alone someone at 269 lbs.

Shame they had to give up both 4s and a 6, but I can live with it.

I wish they would take that approach most years. Go after guys you believe in aggressively, don't just sit there and hope they make it to you.
