EDIT: I think I jumped the gun. Seems like he's saying if the Pats lose and fans crawl into a hole, you won't read his stuff but if they win, you will.

Apologies, all. I am now applying to ESPN for Mort's job. I'm perfect for it.

Good for him.

Reiss is a class-act and a good dude.

I'm glad he's leaving that cesspool of dishonest reporting with his credibility intact.

Hope he lands somewhere decent.

However it ends, I think we can all agree that it’s been fun being on this ride together all the way to Feb. 5. We can’t always guarantee the endings, but when one embraces the journey on a day-to-day basis, there are often many rewards received along the way regardless.

So thank you for that. And I look forward to reconnecting again, whenever that may be.

However things turn out in Super Bowl LI, it’s been a meaningful journey

Does that post say that he is leaving?

Seems clear-cut that he is leaving? No?

Granted why he doesn't come out and say he is leaving ESPN is curious.

I tweeted and asked him. Let's see if he responds because I saw no indication from his tweets that he's leaving.

this is how i think it just may say that
I hope we get to reconnect again
Reis has been the one of a few lone reporters, ,that actually reports and not looking for click bait ratings

He tweeted that he isn't leaving, from what I gather.

Yea but historically when he uses his personal website it usually means he's going through a professional situation.

IMO, that's a not an "I'm leaving my job, so long" message, it's a "just in case they lose and you stop reading about the Pats for a few months, I just wanted to say thanks" message.
Agreed. He's definitely not saying anything about leaving.

Unless I missed it, it appears the 'journey' reference alludes to what transpires over the course of a season, not his career, and observing the pain when the team loses the big game that causes fans to disconnect for a while.

This has been a great year, one of my favorites covering the Patriots no matter how it ends. It helps that there are a lot of quality people on the team, as well as those in the media corps covering it.

So let’s wrap this up. If the Patriots can’t close it out against the Falcons, you might shut it down like 2007, 2011 and some other seasons, and I understand it. There’s a lot of passion that goes into following a team.

He closes with "So thank you for that. And I look forward to reconnecting again, whenever that may be." I don't see that as signing off of ESPN, Robert, but correct me if you read something otherwise in this article.
