Link: Burfict’s three-game suspension upheld

LOL. I wonder if Goodell has a punishment dice in his office. Whatever roll comes up is the punishment he gives out, no matter what the "offense" is, no matter what precedent. Hilarious.

He received an appropriate penalty ... he was lucky it was only 3 games.

I don't think a reduction in penalty should be automatic just because one appeals.

The NFL would do well to study the process in the NHL ... not perfect but they go the extra yard to give a penalty supported by facts - past history - intent and they pretty much do it in a manner where it's not personal.

Someone must have been telling lies about Joseph K., for without having done anything wrong he was arrested one fine morning.

I just think it was funny it was 3 games for one hit...4 for being possibly generally aware that someone might have been taking a tiny bit of air out of footballs.... a tiny fine for blatant tampering of Darrelle Revis... a tiny fine for an opposing coach being on the field and talking trash to another team to goad them into a penalty that decided a game... and so on.

Whatever the dice says goes I guess.

How can they deny an appeal, I hope Burfict takes this further.

Shocked that Goodell didn't release a rumor of the suspension, see what the media says and then confirm it.

Aqib Talib must be shaking in his boots. He was already suspended once this season and admitted he grabbed Philly Brown's face mask on purpose. If Burfict got three games, Talib could be looking at that or more.

Aqib will likely get the Pacman Jones treatment -- which means he'll get nothing

And release a video explaining ruling and why they went with that punishment. Also having a player safety division that rules on suspensions and not the commissioner helps. Only time Bettman is involved is appeals.

What is this transparency dream you speak of?

Oh they didn't change his suspension..that's too bad...

He won't see more than a 4 game suspension because we all know that it is "more probable than not" that "being generally aware" of footballs being deflated because of the ideal gas law is the worst you can do in the nfl. Nothing beats it, not even knocking out your fiance on camera in an elevator.

It was a dumb play by Burfict and not only cost HIS team the game, it caused Pittsburgh a chance of going to the AFCCG. That being said, I feel it was normal overreaction by the NFL. IF it wasn't on national TV with everybody watching, this would have been a fine. Once again, the NFL got swayed by the media's outrage instead of using common sense. How many times have you seen guys get knocked out on illegal hits ? How many of times have the offenders been fined ? All the time. How many times have they been suspended ? This is the first time.

Don't like Burfict, I think he's a moron and an *******, very selfish player. But the NFL set a precedent on a hit we've seen dozens of times that never received suspensions. Let alone 3 game suspensions.

Well, with this, you can pretty much guarantee the Pats won't be playing the Bengals in the first three weeks of the season...
