OPINION: NFL Hypocrisy, The Growing Allegations of Biased Media

Robert Alvarez

Criticism of media prompts Broncos fans to create a petition to ban Phill Simms from NFL playoffs.

Rather than announce he (Phil Simms) gives his opinion on EVERYTHING

LOL.

Memo to Bronco fans: one person does the play-by-play, or announces the game; in this case it is Jim Nantz.

The other person, formerly known as the color commentator and now referred to as the analyst .... between plays interjects with - yep - his opinion!

I guess the fans in Colorado have become so accustomed to media (both local and national) slobbering over their team in general - and their quarterback in particular - that anything less than a glowing lovefest is considered to be 'bias' against the team they root for.

They hate Collinsworth too. They were complaining about something about him talking like how this game wasn't over in 2013. And it wasn't. They didn't like that either.

It's interesting though. I hear fans from a lot of fan bases complain about Simms, Collinsworth, Aikman about bias and ballwashing. Product of NYJFL* corruption and influence on the corrupt media organizations.

Maybe Collinsworth isn't biased against the Patriots. Maybe he just says stupid **** about every team. Maybe everyone just hates him.

He has one of the most punchable faces I've ever seen, which doesn't help.

When it comes to the media and other fan bases, they have 1st world problems.

Whereas us Patriots, thanks to our collective "inferiority complex", live is a country where the water is potentially hazardous and the power is intermittent.

I personally abhor Phil Simms. I just don't like the sound of his voice and he talks WAY TOO MUCH. I often mute the TV just after Nanz's call and un-mute it when the picture zooms in on the next play.

Collinsworth is better, but his "aw shucks, I 'm just a hayseed" act is wearing thin on me. His knowledge of the play is timely (unlike Simms) and he does highlight the line players a lot (which is great), but his obvious hatred of the Pats (revisit his self-righteous positions on "CameraPlacementGate" and "The Witchhunt") piss me off no end. He's on the hater list.

For what it's worth, irrespective of his ball-washing of Peyton* (apparently due to agent business relationships) I really like Nanz's product. I think he and Al Michaels are very good at calling play-by-play. I just wish they wouldn't inject their opinions into the broadcast as often as they do.

What I really wish is that one of these guys would team up with John Lynch (Fox, third string Color Commentator). Lynch is, IMHO, the best color guy of them all! Wonderful knowledge, accurate play descriptions, and efficient speech. Very easy on the ears.

Here's a thought. How much better would it be if the local Radio broadcast for all 32 markets were overlaid onto the video feed. I think the vast majority of fans would love it. It would put the national media guys out of business and make everybody happy!
