Patriots 2015 Opponents, Five First Impressions of the Jaguar

Steve Balestrieri

The Jacksonville Jaguars are turning the corner under Gus Bradley and becoming a team on the rise. They upset the Miami Dolphins 23-20 in Sunday.

The Patriots should easily beat the Jaguars on Sunday. However, the Jags did just beat a Miami team that gives the Patriots fits, so it's time to move past Buffalo and Wrecks, Jim Harbaugh and the Colts implosion and get back to football.

Allen Robinson is going to be the real deal. I'm a PSU fan and he was awesome in college, I think he's primed for a real breakout this year.

What will be an advantage for us is the Jaguars lack of a running game with both Denard Robinson and Yeldon both likely out.

I'm really interested to see Robinson vs. Butler.
It's funny, you'd have expected Marqise Lee to be the top guy, but both Robinson and UDFA Hurns have beaten him out. I was really hoping the Pats made a run at Robinson in the draft but I think he got taken relatively early. Still, I felt like he was a first round talent.

Jags seem to be playing well against the run. Wouldn't be surprised to see another game where we pass 40-50 times.

Also, Julius Thomas will not be playing.

Lee hasn't quite lived up to expectations, and Robinson has well exceeded his. You could tell at the end of last year that both guys were trending different directions

He was taken 1 pick before Garoppolo

Did Dikembe write the thread title?

The defense is going to face another test. The top 2 WRs in Hurns and Robinson are very good. People talk about Julius Thomas but forget about Mercedes Lewis. Lewis is a legitimate receiving threat. The Jags O-line could be the best they face all year outside the Cowboys..

Their secondary looks to be their weakness. They have old friend, Sergio Brown as their starting FS. If Brown matches up against Gronk, again, I think the results will be the same with Gronk "throwing him outta the club".

I think that the Jags LBers are probably their strongest unit with Posluzny, Skuta, and House.

Looking forward to a good game.

What is the Jags stadium like? The fans? Any reason to take note of the energy and noise there?

And I don't have a clue about Bortles? I think of him as another Mallett but not sure.

The game is in Foxboro, so it doesn't matter what their stadium is like.

Bortles is not like another Mallett. Bortles is a big, mobile QB who can throw on the run or run it himself. Think of a less experienced Ben Roethlisberger without the rape charges...

Ha Ha. I thought for sure we played two straight road games.... No problem then. Thanks for the Bortles summary.

Jacksonville jaguars is a stupid name, I think they only picked it because they both start with J. Let's get butler and dmac on Robinson and we should be fine
