Appearantly Billy O is thinking of making a change at QB and wants to see what they have in Mallett.

Word around their locker room is there is frustration with the way Fitz has been performing and Coach Bill O claims that he will evaluate and play the QB who has the best practice.

Now we will see if he is a Diamond in the rough or a lump of coal.

In my opinion this is a great opportunity for Ryan and I expect him to seize the moment. I will be interested to watch if he indeed gets the start.

Has a team ever voted an opposing player their MVP? Fitz has a strong case in Pittsburgh.

Although this would not surprise me, exactly what is the source for each of these claims?

It is interesting. Fitzpatrick had the highest Wonderlic score ever and could build a billion dollar hedge fund in his sleep but consistently makes dumb football decisions at the worst possible moments.

I understand this, Fitz is a great backup, but they won't win with him.

They need to evaluate Mallet

Fitzpatrick is a decent backup at best. I have no idea why they've continued to start him

I hope so. I really want to see what he can do.

Same here. While he was here I kept saying that I had a hunch he could be a better starter than backup -- he seemed to need to settle into a groove and feel confident to start playing football.

Regardless, I wish him well. Despite all the "character" rumors floating around when he was drafted, he seemed like a good soldier here.

Bill O'Brien announced he is going with Mallet. It will be cool to see Mallet start a game but I don't imagine he will do much.

I have a good friend who is a Texans fan, and I've been saying: you won't win with Fitzpatrick.
He is what he is.
At least with Mallett, you've got potential for more.
Time to see if he delivers.

I'm surprised it took so long to be honest.

Fitzpatrick is like a poor mans kyle orton.

The Texans named Ryan Mallett their starting quarterback for Week 11 against the Browns.

Coach Bill O'Brien praised Mallett's command of the offense, acknowledging his progress running the system, and said it's time to give Mallett "his shot." With the Texans on their bye, it was a prime time to make the switch. Fitzpatrick is 21st in the league in completion percentage, 15th in passing yards, and 11th in YPA. However, he managed just an 11:8 TD:INT ratio and took 21 sacks. The world has been waiting to see if Mallett can play in the NFL. And now is his time. In the final year of his rookie deal, Mallett has a golden opportunity to earn some good money in the offseason. Andre Johnson is said to be a big fan of Mallett's. Mallett has a big arm and will be able to get the ball deep to both Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins, but he has big-time accuracy issues in the short-to-intermediate range.

Ha! I was thinking a completely broke man's Cutler... only without being a whiny douche.

Houston's offense might cater to Mallet's skill set more than New England's offense did (while he was here).

We're based on timing and route running, and in his time here, with smaller receivers usually not capable of going up and getting the ball.

In Texas he'll have a strong run game, throw off of play-action, and bigger, taller, downfield receivers in Johnson and Hopkins to go and high point the ball. People have always said that was his type of strength, correct?

I've still don't recall seeing him throw the deep ball with much touch in NE, but the vertical game has usually been cited as his strength and he should be setup for more success there than he was here in that aspect.

Ironically, during the season he was traded our offense has much more of a vertical look both on the outside and up the seams with probably an even taller set of skill players than Houston has.
