In terms of going after needs, they get an A. Their offense was Pop Warner level bad. Whether or not they can play will be answered soon.
Thoughts on their draft strategy:
1. Hopefully, Maye is a day 1 starter. But if not, he will play at some point this season because Brissett will get hurt...
This is a GM and Coach killing move. Cousins still has some time and that 1st round pick should've been spent towards another need like defense. You don't spend all that money on a QB and then use a 1st round pick on someone who will not only sit for a few years, but will be an unknown.
They are not relying on Bourne when he isn’t an X WR to begin with. He’s not an outside guy and Douglas is their new slot guy - where Bourne did his damage in SF and NE 2021.
Thornton on the other hand, has a clean slate, but the Pats drafted two guys that may take snaps from him.
Probably because they don’t think they have to yet. Aaron Rodgers had the Jed Tedford throwing motion which was highly criticized coming out of the draft. He changed it after he was drafted. Either Maye works on it or not.
Looks faster than his 40 time, but I’m sure there will be concerns about comparisons to Harry’s style.
The draft coverage is horrible by the way taking forever to announce picks.
Why is the draft coverage so terrible? All they want to do is hear themselves talk and they say nothing about the player or show highlights. The first round was 4 hours last night. It’s becoming unwatchable.
People that have watched the 49ers would tell you they are getting tired of Samuel’s unreliability. It would be idiotic to trade Aiyuk and keep Samuel.
