    Patriots Inactives

I am glad to see that Edelmann will be active today! I like the plays where he and Welker start out of a stacked receiver set.

How do you think the offense will come out?

I too would love to see the Patriots open up with a 3 TE power set plus Moss and Welker. I know the personnel would telegraph a pass play, but I am doubtful the Jets could defend that many talented receivers. What a difference from say 2006 Pats team!!!

Collective PatsFans Wisdom on how to attack Jets defense?

As I think about the forthcoming game against the Jets, I continue to be intrigued by the possibilities of three receivers bunched to one side of the formation and Randy Moss split wide on the other side. How would the Jets defend that formation assuming that Reeves is left alone with Moss...

Collective PatsFans Wisdom on how to attack Jets defense?

PatChick, now you have highlighted why I started this thread... It already is much more informative (and instructive) than threads devoted to X Pats player or Y Jets participant. We as a group are pretty good. What is our collective wisdom (beforehand) about how to put the Jets away at...

Collective PatsFans Wisdom on how to attack Jets defense?

My crazy dream last night had the 3 TE's as well as Welker and Edelman on the field at the same time. All three of the TE's were in the bunch formation that Welker scored from on the left last week, Then Welker and Edelman are effectively stacked on the right. Assuming that the Patriots...

Collective PatsFans Wisdom on how to attack Jets defense?

I am wondering what the collective wisdom of the PatsFans community is about how best the Patriots offense should attack the Jets defense this weekend. If "we" were the Patriots Offensive Coordinator, what would be our game plan be to rack up at least 24 points (that I think will be needed to...

    Marques Murrell released

Were there any defensive plays where Mayo, Spikes, and Guyton were on the field together as LB's? I did not notice if so during week 1.

Predict the Score Contest, Week 1 CIN @ NE

The Patriots young defense bends but does not break, while the offense gets a good start to the new football season. Wildcard will be the special teams' performance. Patriots 31 Bengals 24

Love the win, Love Cassel, this defense isnt good enough

I am actually very proud of this defense. Yes, its performance has been more average than many defenses in the past eight years. However, lest we forget, we have a bunch of youth now playing, particularly at the linebacker position -- a position that many on this board complained about not...

    60/94, 63.8 comp%, 815 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT

I have to admit that I giggled at your answer... How lucky New England has been for investing that late round draft pick in Matt Cassel!! Can you imagine what we would be like if we still had that QB Rohan Davey as Tom Brady's back-up? Also, while I am sure that Tom Brady is smiling at Matt...

It is OK to question WTF is going on, right?

I could not agree with you more. Plus the worriers on this board forget about the young potential that we now have at the linebacker position. People here quickly forget how many of our top draft picks in BB / Pioli's first years were spent on the defensive line. Do people at all notice...

OT: Washington @ Seattle Game Thread

Watch out for the team that has more than just pride to play for. Washington is motivated by the Taylor death far more than many of us might fully appreciate.

Troy Brown as Assistant Coach and Possible Mid-Year WR

As the initiator of this thread, I am glad to read all of the comments my "winks/nods/understandings" thought has provoked. I personally do not think that the Patriots would do this with Troy Brown, although it seems likely that Troy is headed to a coaching career after his playing days are...

Troy Brown as Assistant Coach and Possible Mid-Year WR

Is there anything in the rules that would prevent the Patriots from hiring Troy Brown as an Assistant Coach of some sort with the wink/nod/understanding that he could possibly be added to the active player roster (later in the season in case of need)? In this way, he could be actively involved...

Who takes their game to the next level?

One further thought and then I will stop... Just imagine what might happen with the Pats if the offense line was more highly regarded than the wide receiver group. I am looking forward to this offensive line group rising to the challenge and becoming widely recognized as the successors to San...

Who takes their game to the next level?

My personal hope is that O'Callaghan or Britt have a break out year after a full year in the offensive line boot camp. Can one imagine what defensive coaches might decide on how to handle a Mankins/Koppin point of attack vis-a-vis Neal/O'Callaghan/Britt? The Pats have the potential to be real...

Who takes their game to the next level?

Good Josh, I completely forgot that most of last year was played on real turf. This colors/biases an improvement in all offensive stats this coming year probably at a slight decrement to what was accomplished at home by the defense. Most, including I, forget how pleased Tom was to finally get...

    Ben Watson

I had no idea that we gained so many yards over the year. Is there any way that you can put this number into context? For instance, what might the NFL team average be over the last three to five years? Or what has been best ever, or top five in the last period of time? Thanks in advance.
