NFL should do away with Thursday night games

Are you people kidding me, complaining about Thursday night football? What's next, *****ing about a Monday morning blowjob?

Shane Vereen back at practice; Dan Connolly only player absent

Healthy or injured, Woodhead >>> Vereen. Time will tell comrades.

I know it's early but Stevan Ridley is showing he could be a #1 back

Why? I think he seemed to run better with more carries. Woodhead and Bolden did OK spelling him. If he keeps this up, maybe he could be a true three down back, and no more RBBC would be needed.

What does your intuition say about Shane Vereen?

There's a big difference between auditioning with the first team, as he did after the NO game, and challenging the next guy up on the depth chart. I never heard any writer ever give an inkling that Ridley's spot was in jeopardy. He's been the clear cut #1 all along.

Snap Judgements --- Pats - Titans post-game review

This could be the most physical team, on both sides of the ball, since 2004.

What does your intuition say about Shane Vereen?

Link please. I diligently followed training camp reports and saw no such thing mentioned. He got better as it went on, but at most, challenged Woodhead's change of pace/ third down role.

What does your intuition say about Shane Vereen?

Did injuries prevent him from dominating training camp and becoming either the clear cut #1 RB or the clear cut #1 3rd down back?

What does your intuition say about Shane Vereen?

He has good measurables and played well in college, but we have no idea if that will translate to the pro game. Injuries aside, the fact that he did not overtake Woodhead or steal more reps from Ridley gives reason to doubt his success. Part of the problems are some fans expectations: people on...

What does your intuition say about Shane Vereen?

He's got the talent to be a decent backup to Woodhead.

Waters' Locker Cleaned Out (Update: Reports Nameplate Taken Down)

How about consequences like de-motivating the rest of the guys that were actually IN camp? How do you think they'd react to a guy skipping out all August, then coming in and getting paid MORE? Why bother even showing up?

Revisiting Bend Don't Break and Time of Possession

Your posts have me thinking about some possible metrics to measure the effect of a teams time-possession strategy on their ability to win games. Just watching the Pats last year, I'd say one weakness they had at times was putting together long clock-killing drives, and preventing other teams...

    Off Season Misspent

BB took a bunch of fliers on some well-known has been's, never was's, and wannabe's. They were calculated risks, and none of them panned out. Alot've them seemed like good ideas at the time. But do you think they'd be better off with these guys on the roster? Gaffney's the only one...

OT: Deus Irae within 100 of 30,000 Posts

Thirty-thousand posts. That's thirteen or fourteen posts a day, every day, for six straight years. Let's say an average post takes five minutes. Some way less, some way more, but over the long haul, five a post. Folks, that is over 2,500 hours of pure Patriot posting right there. Over one...

    Pats sign RB Lex Hilliard

No, it's a demonstration of Poe' Law.

Waters' Locker Cleaned Out (Update: Reports Nameplate Taken Down)

Re: Waters Locker Cleaned Out Mixed feelings on this one. Obviously, he's better than all of the alternatives. On the other hand, I've never been a big fan of letting guys skip training camp just because they're "too old for that ****."
  17. H

Who are these guys and why did they make the team?

All but two of them (Bolden and Francis) are placeholders until they sign another WR or two.

    Roster scraps?

I'm praying for the Chiefs to make a mistake and cut Nate Eachus.

Bedard: Part of me Wouldn't Be Surprised if They Cut Vereen

After seeing Gaffney and Stallworth both getting cut, I'm thinking the Pats will carry four TE's and five RB's; with only five WRs: Welker, Lloyd, Branch, Edelman, Slater. I'm not sure why they'd cut Vereen or Woodhead. Like it or not, Woodhead is their best pass blocker, for starters. And...
