    Combine weigh-ins?

    James Hanna TE, Oklahoma, 6036/252, 33-1/8 arms, 9-7/8 hands: 4.42 & 4.49/40, 24 reps, 36.0 vert, 10'2" broad, 4.11 20-S Donald Stephenson OT, Oklahoma, 6054/312, 34-7/8 arms, 9-7/8 hands: 4.94/40, 19 reps, 35.5" vert, 9'6" broad, 4.78 20-S

    Randy Moss unretired (merged)

Moss is a long-strider. Even when he was young, he often "looked" slow. Or lazy. But that has kinda been his thing. While most guys seem to shorten their stride to accelerate, Moss seems to lengthen his. A guy covering him would see him continuing to lope along and wouldn't realize till too...

Pierre Garcon rejects 5 year contract with Colts

Amazingly enough, I've never heard a booth announcer say anything like, "the guard was flagged for holding the Mayo" although I really expected to. Seriously, I think Garcon's route-running has improved somewhat, but he's still not great. He's deep routes DO work often enough, but I don't...

    Combine weigh-ins?

Molk apparently also topped all OL in bench reps with 41. A few guys put up 32 to tie for second. Doesn't necessarily translate to playing ability, of course. There was an OG from a couple years ago, now with the Giants and still a reserve (I think) who put up 42.

    Combine weigh-ins?

Steelers Depot has a nice chart format that's EZ-to-copypasta (not an uncopyable image like some sources post, and no embedded links to complicate the process). E.g.: 2012 NFL Combine Results: Tight Ends | Steelers Depot I copypasta into Notepad (simple .txt file), save/close, then open...

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

I was shocked when they kept Tarpinian over Yeatman (and others) - and on the active roster, no less, even though he missed most of camp with injuries (I thought for sure he would be redshirted). The guy must TRULY be something special. In fairness, he posted some pretty fine ProDay workout...

Pioli discusses the evolution of grading players due to changes in the NFL

Not sure how he was a "JAG WR" when drafted since he'd never played the position in college.

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

Thanks. I try to - out of respect. In any case, it's been a good discussion. Although it rarely happens, Brady sometimes checks OUT of a pass and INTO a run. I think he actually did that one time against BAL and again in the SB (though I can't quite remember which play and the...

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

I see your point here and, in the abstract, I'd agree. However, if my hypothesis is correct (about Brady having seen Rolle bite on something, then, in order to duplicate those conditions and make the route tweak a surprise, Brady would likely have used the same personnel group and set. I'd...

Pioli discusses the evolution of grading players due to changes in the NFL

Seems to me that Pioli is talking about player evaluations in a broader sense, not limited to draft prospects (though he does mention the draft board). IOW, acquisitions like Arrington and Moore are an equal part of that general discussion.

What "JAG WRs" were drafted and converted to DB?

Mike Wallace = target for Pats deep threat?

There's something vaguely NSFW about this comment.

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

Actually, fire safety rules will only allow the OC to go to a college program in disarray. Which could end up amounting to the same thing.

Torn between FA WRs Mike Wallace and Brandon Lloyd...

Worse than Ben? IDK. Orton throws a pretty good deep ball; it's the short stuff into tight windows that usually gives him trouble (part of the reason his red zone stats aren't so hot). Also, the other side of Lloyd being successful in the "system" is the QB. The "system" basically amounts to...

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

BGE had twelve touches in his 22 snaps, including 2 receptions (of three targets) for 15 yards. Woodhead had 11 touches (12, if you include the 7-yd reception for a 1st down that was negated by Waters' holding penalty). He had 7 runs and 4 receptions (on 4 targets) for 42 yds. Six (seven)...

Torn between FA WRs Mike Wallace and Brandon Lloyd...

Okay, let's review - with some context. Of the 37 guys acquired by the Pats during the BB Era who have been "designated" as WR on the roster, only 9 were drafted (less than one in five). The nine includes a 5th-rounder (Slater) and a 7th rounder (Edelman) who didn't actually play WR in college...

Mike Wallace = target for Pats deep threat?

Just to be clear, I'm NOT advocating for Edwards instead of Lloyd or Wallace or even Reggie Wayne. I'm just pointing out that there are plenty of reasons to think he could be a viable OTA/Camp participant in addition to one of these other guys. My concern with him is NOT his previous...

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

Y'know, if the Giants ever do that against the Colts, Polian will been on the phone to the Competition Committee to complain about the way the ball bounces. Oh, wait.
  19. M

The best thing for this team moving forward? No more BOB

BoB does NOT make the final decision about whether the play that is to be executed is a run or a pass - Brady does. Period. If you don't understand that, I can't help you. Yes, it would have been more accurate to state that BGE runs CONSISTENTLY well only between the tackles. Virtually all...

Mike Wallace = target for Pats deep threat?

Well, that's what I'm thinking. Why not? He's tall, strong, relatively young (younger than Lloyd) but experienced, knows how to get open, especially along the edges and deep. He's made numerous spectacular plays when focused and, as I said, his catch rate (48%) is about average for a guy...
