The thing is Mac Jones pretty much looked the same that last 6 games of 2021(exception of beating up on the 3-14 Jaguars). Which makes it a little hard to blame anything that happened the last 2 years for Mac sucking.

They managed to hold the Bills to 47 points in 2021 due to 2 missed XPs. Given that they scored touchdowns on 7/7 possessions I dont think that is an improvement.

Mac Jones was 100x the draft pick of Jordan Richards. In the alternate universe where Mac Jones isn't picked we probably end up with Brian Hoyer as our starter in 2021 :poop:

I don't disagree with your assessment of Vrabel as average and Mayo being unknown. And it making more sense to move onto a unknown coach who could be good verse hiring an average one. But yeah Mayo could be much worse than an average HC. Look at Josh McDaniels.

I don't know why BOB and McDaniels are being mentioned together. McDaniels is by FAR a worse HC.

Which is kinda of argument for why he will be back. Probably not going to have many teams knocking down the door offering him and OC/HC position. And he gets the opportunity to work with a high 1st round QB. Hard to think of a better way to rehab his image.

I think the difference is with Zappe instead of Jones the Patriots offense looks like a real NFL offense. Maybe not a good NFL offense, but its at least a start.
