Game Day Thread Week 5 New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys Game Thread

I'm a little confused. Are you saying that a punctured lung can cause a broken rib, or that I'm misusing the word "complication" when referring to a secondary condition that can be caused by a broken rib?

A punctured lung is a reasonably common complication of a broken rib. I would consider it a rib injury, in a loose sense. But yeah obviously if he had any serious complications he would not be on the sideline.

FINALLY the Browns win it, I can watch the important game now.

Brady not happy with youth sports competition-uber-alles atmosphere

It is an attitude that even pro athletes can sadly hold, especially after they are out of their primes. Brady is unusual in that he gets to be a highly successful pro athlete in his late 30's, so he has had an opportunity to gain a lot of perspective and spend a lot of time thinking about what...

OT - Less than 10 percent of NFL pink merchandise sales go toward cancer research

NFL Pink donations apparently go to the American Cancer Society.

OT - Less than 10 percent of NFL pink merchandise sales go toward cancer research

Disagree strongly. The NFL claims the following: "At Retail: 100% of the NFL’s proceeds from Pink product sales go to the American Cancer Society." followed by fine print later on the page of "The NFL does not retain any profits generated by royalties received due to the sale of Pink products...

    Semi-OT: Brady v. Manning discursion

Figure out your own weaknesses on defense, and just stop the Patriots' offense from exploiting them. Brilliant. Why haven't any head coaches thought of this strategy before?

Brady Wins AFC Player of the Month; Gostkowski wins ST player of month

Ha, was there even any competition for this? There are only like two or three other offensive players (Rodgers, Palmer, Jones, MAYBE Peterson but that would be a stretch) who were even comparably impressive in September, and they were all in the NFC. Dalton is the only guy in the AFC who I can...

Goodell being interviewed for 60 mins

You could simplify that to "do two shots every time he says integrity" and it would have the same effect.

Florio: NFL slams brakes on notion that Goodell's role over disciplinary matters will change soon

The NFL seems to go into collective bargaining with the mindset that it is all one big zero-sum game and that they have to treat every ask from the NFLPA as a potential bargaining chip even when it is in the shared best interests of the owners and players to address issues. So we get a situation...

Kravitz, Breer and Volin Try to Start Something on McNally and Get Powned

http://www.dmlp.org/legal-guide/indiana-defamation-law In making a knowingly false claim imputing misconduct in McNally's occupation, Baltz has broken Indiana state law.

Kravitz, Breer and Volin Try to Start Something on McNally and Get Powned

Kravitz broke the real story here: time travel will be invented and McNally will use it to go back in time, sneak into the Patriots' locker room, and deflate balls used in a preseason game back in 1993.

    Radio Gate

No clue, but the play before is listed as "(7:58) (Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass incomplete deep right to 87-R.Gronkowski." so my guess is that it just took the officials a long time to bring the ball back to the line of scrimmage from downfield or something. EDIT: If anyone is curious why they...

    Radio Gate

Heh, he actually probably was. Obviously not as part of a conspiracy, but the hand signal Brady was giving is an officiating signal for "reset the play clock to 25 seconds" which is given after certain play stoppages where the clock is supposed to stop running. Brady was probably using this...

    2015 Week One Post-Game Thread - Patriots 28, Steelers 21

A 12-4 season brings down Brady's career regular season winning percentage. Losing in the Super Bowl brings down his career postseason winning percentage. Completely mindboggling that any team can sustain that sort of success over a player's 13 regular seasons and 12 playoff appearances. Totally...

    2015 Week One Post-Game Thread - Patriots 28, Steelers 21

For what it's worth, you set me out on an interesting quest for information, and here's the wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_wins_by_a_National_Football_League_starting_quarterback Looks like Favre #1 at 186-112 (62.4%), Manning #2 at 179-77 (69.9%), Brady #3 at 161-47...

Brady declined the post game on field interview!

Interesting, I guess we'll find out soon enough.
