A HoF 1st - Induction of a certified football idiot

Dude you really should really re-read the tone of my first post. We do agree on something, it's a underwhelming argument because it's an underwhelming HOF selection. But I can live with. Everyone knows owners can be elected to the HOF, but wow, you must really hate Jones. You won't acknowledge...

A HoF 1st - Induction of a certified football idiot

Not sure you understand what I mean. Jones has been an OWNER since 1989 closing in on 40yrs. While Kraft has been an OWNER since 1996. To be inducted as a HOF OWNER, you need longevity. Which is a big word that means you need to OWN the team for quite a while. Jones has been a OWNER 6 more years...

A HoF 1st - Induction of a certified football idiot

Owner since 1989 vs 1995 need I say more. Equally, Krafty should get the same consideration in 5 or 6 more years. But the general national media and league hate of all things NE, might push that to 10.

A HoF 1st - Induction of a certified football idiot

As far as what constitutes a HOF owner (which is who the F knows really? PR fluff, longevity, power, league influence, promoting the game, getting stadiums built, lacking in scandals) yes. I think formula used for a HOF owner is longevity*power - scandals executed for max PR exposure. Nothing to...

A HoF 1st - Induction of a certified football idiot

#1, I Didn't even know owners could get into the HOF. Now that I do, as far as Owners go, I'd at least consider he is HOF worthy. As a NFL owner. Someone has to get elected. Its a small field. The same 32 people, not much real turnover, aside from a quick pitch to a cloned "son". But no last...

Leading candidate Chris Ballard may not take Colts GM job/Update: Colts hire Ballard

We might very well have BB and maybe PC at SEA (and a few other HC/GM out there) to thank for this trend. These new guys see what it takes to compete in this league, and a fragile paper title without complete full vertical decision autonomy is not a good place to start.

BB sounds alarm for his coaching staff

To me that quote means, it'll be the last time "the team" will play, because, if they play like that again, they will have a loss, and be out of the playoffs.

On To Houston: Playoff Practice/Info Thread

Damn. Not the Flu. Wash your hands! 7 OUTs? Does that mean 3 people across multiple days, or 7 people out today?

    Raiders @ Texans Playoff Thread

Current lines (for you amusement): Spreads and Approximate 'to win' odds for favorite HOU -4.0 (~67%) OAK SEA -8.0 (~80%) DET PIT -10.5 (~87%) MIA GB -5.0 (~71%) NYG Road teams not getting much love this weekend. If I had to pick an upset, I go with OAK. Like really, what has HOU done this...

Patriots are showing noticeable intensity in practice during bye & a "FINISH STRONG!" attitude

Is this really a bye week vis a vis the CBA? Its a playoff bye week, not an in season bye. I'd assume different rules. Am i wrong?

According to Jason Cole, teams are alreadying vying for Garoppolo!

Now don't get me wrong I'd be more than happy getting a 1st and whatever for JG this off-season, but what's the rush? And at such a risk for a 2017 deep playoff run? This team is built to win it all now, next season and maybe a couple beyond. Of them, excluding this 2016 squad, next season is...

    Raiders @ Texans Playoff Thread

Sure, they aren't SB favorites, but the games should be competitive. And -HELL YA- the intense, win or go home mentality will be there, and THAT is what makes any playoff football worth watching. Can't wait!

The Patriots DON'T regret hiring Bill Belichick

It wouldn't matter. Accuracy is not the priority. And they'd just re-spin it, if it even reached any level of attention. This shouldn't even be a problem. But gone are the days of reporting news objectively. Now every article is half editorial, half half-truth and a 100% agenda driven message...

In Classic Rams fashion, LA residents watched LESS football after the move

Open your notebook, this is a classic example of NFL using media misinformation to manufacture leverage by falsely higher demand than exists. SD called that bluff last year. And the team owner came crawling back after the NFL owners (in an unprecedented move IMO) said, nope, you can't go there.

Philly sports writers: Belichick was right. The Eagles were wrong. The Eric Rowe trade made no sense

After seeing this, a light bulb went off in my head... Maybe Rowe was NE's draft target all along? He was converted safety, played sparingly in college at his new position, not many plays to judge him on, but good combine numbers showed raw ability, probably expected to drop a bit... Doesn't...

    AP All-Pro Team

Must be basing his info on BB's injury reports.

Name another head coach that says "That busted play, that was my fault"

Actually the telecast showed that play a few times, blame was 50-50 on Van Noy, and McCourty. McCourty had to pick one receiver to help on, and he chose the sideline. That left Van Noy as the only player deep in the center.

Is there any correlation between strength of schedule and playoff success?

The most accurate single predictor of future success is point differential hands down. If you want to make that more accurate still, you'd only then adjust by opponent strength. But pt dif is #1. For example if your strength of schedule, ie your opponent's point differential, is weak, say -2.0...

    Jimmy Johnson on Belichick's greatness

Its $$$$ haha. Before the NEP, BB era, it was a parity driven random coin flip league, and that was good for business. BB's greatest mistake as a coach/gm was assuming the rest of the league cared more about football than pride. Although, I cant fault him, its a strange thing to anticipate...
