Rodney Harrison not a Drake Maye guy

I I think the kid was nervous.
After 3 years of another #10, that makes me nervous. Clip below was from 2022. He had another INT to Wiggins in 2023.

Bringing this up again - record and stats (per game avg) against Top 25 teams his last 2 years:
Drake Maye
1-3 56% 250yds 2.3TD 1INT

Funny, I was going to say that he is close to the exact same height/size as a fully developed Randy Moss (except shorter arms and 0.3" shorter height - 15lbs heavier at the Combine but Moss gained 15lbs to get to peak size), who was measured at supposedly 22.7mph as a Vike by the same methods.

I have a feeling MHJ was advised by his HoF dance mom not to do it - absolutely nothing to gain. The dude has fantastic top end speed and has the potential to take it to the house every time. Imho, it's indisputable from just measuring the cadence (steps per minute) that he can get up to at his height, 6'3.2" along with his stride. We'll have to agree to disagree on that.

McCourty has the 2 fastest speeds as a ball carrier for the Pats in the Next Gen era (with highest at 22.05mph). The dude has fantastic top end speed and is one of the reasons why he's getting a red jacket.

Moss was the fastest receiver in the league. Culpepper literally could not overthrow him. Again, saying Harrison Jr. could be Larry Fitzgerald is no insult, he’s just never going to be Randy Moss. It’s like saying that Bijan Robinson could be Adrian Peterson, but he’s never going to be Barry Sanders. He will probably be a really good player, but I would take 3 firsts if I’m the Patriots than I would Harrison jr. Jr. or a tackle.

Where would y'all pick Maye in the almost zero chance that he falls far? ARodgers mid 20s? Me personally, mid 2nd is where I start getting somewhat comfortable, especially since he probably needs to sit for at the very least half a season.

I've heard some that have met him question his overall intelligence but then others that have met him say it's because his personality (southern bumpkin?) makes you think he's not smart but say he's actually pretty intelligent.
The OC for NC was absolutely terrible, the play calling was laughable at times.
CJ Stroud was heavily knocked for his lack of football acumen FWIW.

I will say he got no coaching last year, It was like going from McDaniel's to Patricia, I can't underestimate how bad his coaching was last year, also makes me wonder this person is passing blame to Maye for their own incompetence, hard to tell.

It's something that only the teams can answer by in person interviews, if he does struggle with football acumen it would make it harder to teach him what he needs because he has all the physical talent in the world, everything he needs to correct are coachable things but if he can't process the coaching and put it into play then he won't ever come close to his ceiling.
Yep, being in houston, I heard a ton of Bryce Young vs Stroud before last year's draft, and the knock on Stroud was his intelligence. And we see how that turned out.

I don't think people are questioning his intellect. They are questioning his football IQ and ability to anticipate and make the correct decision.

For every Stroud there is a Fitzmagic.
People that I know that have had conversations with him in the past, not friends of his per se, but people that have met him. I live in NC so I run into people. Some have come away with, he's a dumb jock vibe, others found him very intelligent. They all loved his personality, a little bit of a Gronkowski goofball in him, very easy going. As we know Gronk was very football smart.

My prediction on these QB's careers:
Drake Maye-Top 5 QB, All pro level starter for next decade, Will be better than Stroud, will get a second contract
Caleb Wiliams-Will disappoint like Trevor Lawrence, will be good but not reach great but gets a second contract as just good enough
JJ McCarthy-Will be a successful starting NFL QB. With a good team around him will put up good numbers, won't carry a team but won't be a QB you can't win with. In right situation could be Phil Simms type career. Very important he lands in good spot.
Jayden Daniels-Will be around the 15-20th best QB most years, will be the best rookie QB, but his lack of arm strength and middle of the field avoidance will keep him just above Justin Fields level for his career. He'll get a 2nd contract IF the team is not in position to get franchise QB elsewhere. Will not be a true franchise QB but will come tantalizingly close, and expect a really good first year.
Bo Nix-Busts out of league, never gets a second contract
Michael Penix-Likely long-term backup, can have a Matt Cassel type career if healthy but will never become a consistent NFL starter
Spencer Rattler-If he's really fixed his attitude problem from Oklahoma will have a Gardner Minshew type career, otherwise out of the league before 2nd contract
Michael Pratt-Has a chance to start in year 2 but most likely is a career backup with spot starts.
Jordan Travis-If recovered from injury (physically and mentally) will surprise, will have a long NFL career and if in right situation could be a long-term starter, most likely will be a #2 QB with spot starts for the next decade. If he is not 100% from injury then will be out of league in 2 years.

Just my opinion from looking at all the data/film. At least it's out there and in a few years we can all see how bad I am at this!!

Unfortunately, can't judge character, drive, determination, work ethic and how they react once they get a big contract. I also don't know what type of recall these guys have and how quick their brain processes. That's what made Tom Brady, Tom Brady.

I like the idea of a franchise QB

in no way, shape, or form do i think Maye is a franchise QB

Yep. As much as I want the QB at 3 if their evaluations conclude that none of the 3 is a franchise caliber QB then they have no choice but to trade out. To me taking a receiver or tackle over 3 first round picks is crazy, especially when they are going to need multiple 1st round picks to trade up for a franchise QB in a future draft.
That's if they have that kind of offer. If they aren't sold on Maye or Daniel's and the best offer they have is say the Vikings at 11 plus a 2nd rd pick then taking BPA makes the most sense.

All the talk from the Pats FO is their interest in trading down if they get the right kind of deal.

We all assume the Vikings want to trade up because they picked up the extra 1st, but they might be happy with whoever they get at 11 for QB with the plan to draft the best IOL at 27 to shoe up their OL

He can make every throw. His footwork sucks. What else am I missing?

consistency issues, accuracy issues, tends to hold the ball too long (pressure to sack ratio is high).......none of those things tend to translate well to the NFL

Not good at all.

I love Rodney, but he’s hardly someone I’d take college prospect advice from.
Rodney may have inside info, or has had the chance to talk with him and go over Xs and Os and came away unimpressed

JJ McCarthy is going to be the best QB in thus draft unless a QB whisperer can fix Maye.

The Patriots have said they are “ open” to listen to trade offers, they haven’t indicated they want to trade out of 3.

The Vikings are picking at 8, they swapped picks with Atlanta because the Falcons tampered with Cousins.

That hasn’t been decided.

History says he is probably right; just like he would be right saying that about every QB.

One will work out - maybe. Who will it be?

It all comes down to how the Pats view Maye/Daniel's. If they view on or both as Franchise QBs then they need to draft either one.

If they don't view them as Franchise QBs and they don't have an offer worth while then drafting a WR or OT they view as a possible HOF game changing type player then it makes all the sense to draft that player

What if they have Maye, Mccarhy and Daniels ranked even?
