Fields traded to Steelers

A dollar is a dollar.

I mean, if I take your analogly at face value, wouldn't a dollar in 2040 more value than it does today?

With compound interest and all, it must!

When does it end?

A dollar in 2040 has significantly less value if it's it is not in your possession until 2040.

Even though you own the rights to next year's pick today, the player won't be in your possession until next year.

A dollar. Is. A dollar.

The word value is being misused here. Same with the pick evaluation.

And what happens when the GM values a 4th rounder next year over a 6th rounder this year?

Why is everyone in here going mad like it's just a absolute given that all these GMs at all times prefer a 6th rounder in their current draft over a 4th rounder in their next?

QBs EPA minimum 500 plays from 2021-2023:

Brissett 20th/43
Mac Jones 31st/43
Fields 36th/43

The idea of pairing one of the worst QBs in the NFL with MHJ was one of the more annoying storylines recently.
Stats lie sometimes Fields was better than both Jones and Biscuit in 2023. Jones was actually the worse QB but I'm sure we all know that personally.

It's obvious you don't have enough core knowledge to discuss this, or are just playing games with words.

The board didn't make this up.

Google the value of time and perhaps learn something.

Out.

And yet, you're gonna find this hilarious.

And yet, GMs trade picks THIS year, for picks next year, every. Single. Year.

I understand the concept. A bird in your hand is worth two in the bush.

Again, this is arbitrary. It's not a "fact"

On the Trade for Fields Great move by the Steelers they picked up Wilson too. I am sure Homer Patsfans will go on record and say Mac Jones is better than both. The Steelers are in a much better place than us Decent young Team with pieces who can compete in the AFC. Another advantage they have over us is they will likely Draft and hit on another WR or Two.

Ok. The fact that the Patriots wouldn't give up a 6 that could be a 4 based on performance is actually ****ing insane.

Are they aware it's the off-season?
Of course they are. Are you aware that the draft hasn't happene yet

If you're gunning for one of the top QB talents in the draft, you have no room for Fields. Fields needs to go somewhere where he can play. and if we get a young stud QB, we can't commit to that.

I'll be honest though I thought Fields would be a Viking.

Mooney is mid. Also, look at Chicago coaching.

Chicago is a **** hole.
I'm pulling for Fields and can't wait to see when he puts it together these spin Doctors hiding like ****roaches when the lights come on. Geno Smith turned into Decent NFL QB so can Justin Fields.

You could of fooled me.

If Jacoby is our QB this year then we might as well go all in on getting the number 1 overall right now.
This is a spent year no matter what we do. We might as well go full tank TBH. But personally I think Brissett is a little better than that. He's shown that in the right environment he can win a few games.

Yes. I agree. We are not going to be a competitive team next year.

yeah, this is how I know I'm dealing with a fan thinking with 20 yeas of entitlement rather than with his brain.
No one or handful of moves is going to fix the 2024 roster.

This team is going to go as far as its O-line takes us. That's the need right now Not WR not QB nothing else. We need reinforcements on the line. Big ones. Good ones. With an improved O-line we can fight for the 7th seed. Without it we'll fight for the first overall pick.

EVERYTHING about the offense last year shows me that the line, not QB, not the rush, not the receivers, was the biggest flaw on the roster. Not only was the passing game terrible the rushing attack wasn't it either, and when you have both struggling at once, the #1 culprit is the line.
To the point that I would neither be shocked nor dismayed if we said fick it and drafted Joe Alt. Brissett with a top class O-line can win some games. A hotshot rookie, or Fields, with a terribleO-line won't.

I hate that phrase "generational talent."
I like it when it is used correctly. Same for GOAT. Yet, far too often it is an exaggeration.

PS: The big ol' MUTE button is getting a real workout in this thread!

Well Fields is a bust and this trade confirms it. Glad we didn't fall for that trap, it's incredible the power of narratives in the media to talk you into an idea and that starts to grow like in the inception movie.

The reality is that for those who watched the games he is a 160 yards per game QB.
The organization concluded that Brissett is a better option than he, Mac or zapster... I don't care if Brissett played the whole season as long as we get the QB position correct this time. Just my opinion

Yeah, but I feel like it can't be used in a draft connotation. Until the player performs at a high level in the NFL, you have no idea if they're going to be a generational talent.

As for the entitlement? This isn't how it works. Every season is played with the goal to win the championship. There are no years off. I don't give the Patriots and especially this "new" regime a pass for things the Patriots accomplished in the past.

Unfortunately I disagree with you on the OLINE being the only problem. We did not have a number 1 or a number 2 WR in any of the last 4 seasons. Maybe even going back to Brady's last season here. Our WR aren't going to magically get better because we drafted a rookie QB and upgraded the OLINE.

I see them potentially saddling another rookie QB with nothing to work with.
