Patriots Player Departure Mac Jones traded to Jags for a 6th

hopefully it's at least for their pick 195 and not 211.
I have the Jags as having picks 192 and 212 (comp pick).

If we can only get a sixth for D. Parker things would start to look different for this offense.

Having two extra 6ths is handy, they are the pieces you throw in to move up in the 2nd or 3rd round to grab the specific prospect you want. Plus, trading both Mac and Parker would free up about $6.5M in cap space for NE.

When I saw 6th I thought we Traded Him for the 6th overall. :(

yeah looks like 192 and 212 in the 6th round, so we'll see which one we get

If people thought it was all Mac and not Bill, Bill would have a job. Mac is still in the league
Bill selected him and kept playing him. That is on him, unless he was forced to by Kraft. If he was forced then Mr Kraft fired the best head coach in the history of the NFL, that will be on Bob Kraft.

Bill did everything he could to ruin this kid's career with the Judge and Patricia hirings. Good luck, Mac. You deserved better in NE.
Serious question : do you think Mahomes would have performed under the Judge/Patricia/BB year entering his second season ?

The reason I ask : it seems like if you are headed for success in the league, you can’t possibly crap out as hard as Mac did that season. I can’t believe a better system would have changed him into a star. And I was so excited after year one. But I was mistaken.

Interesting. Does that mean zero chance of trade down now? They obviously are set on one of the qbs…. So will that take a trade up?? Did the Pats show their hand a wee bit early?

We'll have a better idea about a week from now.

Will you just put that to rest, please?

Everyone in the NFL world KNEW Bill was taking Mac at 15. None of the QBs that year, even the guy he's now backing up, have lived up to the expectations, with four busting. Jesus, can we put the Brady-Bill wars behind us?

There were 4 teams bidding for Mac. That means 4 teams probably offered 7th round picks and then we negotiated with Jacksonville to upgrade their offer to a 6th round pick. ;)

This board didn’t think that when they were 9-4 and had the best record in the AFC.
In 2021 Mac went 1-4 after the bye week, he threw 7 interceptions and lost a fumble… 8 turnovers in five games while completing about 60% of his passes.

His only "good," turnover free performance came against the Jaguars... a team that finished 2021 with a bottom five defense and the worst record in the entire NFL.

Most Pat’s fans hoped Mac hit a rookie wall and would get stronger his sophomore season, instead it portended his career for the next two years. Once teams got film on Mac he stunk, unless he grows up and learns how to be a pro that’s who he is.

For now, he's first round AJ McCarron.

Thought Kyle Shanahan loved him? Not enough to pay up a 5th round pick
Yeah, and they just got 4 comp picks!

Maybe the Pats WANTED to keep him in the conference...mwahaha!

EDIT: after seeing there were other teams, I wonder if the Pats did him a solid and let him go home.

I wonder if the 6th is because it was for only one year of him. His 5th year option has not been picked up that’s up to the jags. Same compensation and situation as Stidham was I think?
Let's see what the Bears get for Fields if they move him, or the JEST get for Wilson.

I'll always go back to the Ravens game in 2022, the game where he was hurt on the last play of the game, early in the Matt Patricia reign as OC. They lost an exciting game where Agholor fumbled a catch & run with 3+ minutes left as the Pats were driving to take the lead.

Mac threw a bad INT to Parker earlier in the game, though many felt that Parker ran the wrong route. He threw another bad pick in the middle of the field which some were saying was Patricia's fault for not setting up the play action. Regardless, they looked like bad INT's on Mac, and he was plagued with those this past season.

On the other hand he passed for about 350 yards including 185 to Parker, led the offense really well all day, and also scrambled extremely well which I never saw from him before or since. After that game I was convinced he could be the one. He showed a high ceiling against a quality opponent.

Then he was hurt (ankle) on a cheap shot on the last play, missed a month, and he was never that same guy again. He teased us with that brief display, and it was pretty much all downhill from there.
