Is Mac Jones salvageable anywhere by anyone?

If the team cuts Jones and he finds his way to another team works hard and earns his way back on the field then good for him. Maybe he could compete for the QB2 spot in Miami and see what happens from there. Knows Tua and Waddle well. Doubtful Tua lasts another full season healthy.

On a new episode of Tom E. Curran's Patriots Talk Podcast, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik makes the case for New England to hold on to Jones for 2024.

Bucs GM: "WE" still have a chance to win if Mac Jones plays....I see what he did there!
lmao. It begins. The Charm Offensive begins.

A few years from now, we won't be saying Belichick ruined Mac Jones. We'll be saying Mac Jones ruined the end of Belichick's tenure with the Patriots.

:)
So, your conclusion is the Mac could be a competitor for a backup position on almost all teams, including our team
Except our team. I am hoping that we fill the QB room with:

1.) A draft pick in the first 2 rounds.
2.) Brisset in FA.
3.) Zappe.

And I conclude that there isn't a starting job for Mac anywhere in the NFL next year barring an injury to a starter...even then, he would need to be in position already (i.e. Competed in camp and practiced well enough to dress as a #2 QB on game days).

Yeah as really need in building the team around Bailey Zappe. And that Mac Jones could be facing as well as possibly a backup QB and needs to earn the job if they move on from him in New England.

I am going to continue with an unpopular choice.

Hypothetically speaking. Let's say we continue with Mac .

Draft MHJ at 3
Sign Higgins for 25 million AAV
Resign onwenu for 3 year deal at 54 million
Resign Bourne and henrybif available for 8 -9 million
Sign T Smith as LT for 25
million 2 year deal.

Trade / cut Parker and JuJu

Trade up to mid 20s and grab a LT to develop Or serve as swing tackle who takes over in mid season from T smith.

Let Josh McDaniels and Caley (OC) cook with Mac.

All 3 ( Mac, Josh, Caley ) have to prove a lot. So the hunger will be much more.

With a stable offensive line we might be mid of the pack .

With MHJ and Higgins , Douglas is going to be more open. He is going to probably have Edelman like stats .

The team offensively will be much better . Will we make post season - unlikely but at least we will be on ascension .

If Mac craps the bed we will at least have a higher pick .

Based on game theory , it's a win win if we go with Mac. The only downside is the fans might not come for the first few games . But if we start to win a few , we could get late momentum like packers.

Eason is a great comparison. Eason had the physical skills and followed up getting to the Super Bowl with a very good season in 1986. Like Mac he was always uncomfortable dealing with pressure until he completely lost it mentally. I am afraid that Mac is in the same place with his career.
yup.
Eason got them to the SB and then folded when he faced the toughest defense in NFL history with no blocking TE, and a weak passing game.

1) a draft pick in the first 7 picks.
2) Bisset or equivalent in FA
3) #3 TBD, but likely Mac through at least early camp.

Trade Mac for a 4th in March.
Would he even command that much in a trade? His 5th year option won't be picked up so a team would be giving up a 4th to just see him in the QB room for a year....

At best Mac Jones might become some NFL or even UFL team's backup. At worst...

True, but Dallas gave that up for Trey Lance; and any backup would cost you a 4th anyway (at a much cheaper price).

A team like, gulp, Atlanta might be interested.

I don't see a new QB going there unless they make a huge reach at #8 for Bo Nix.

Never heard this narrative before. Did anyone give a **** if Hugh Millen got another job after his time here in New England? What about Marc Wilson? Or Tommy Hodson? Give me a break!

That would not be a Reach they can Draft WR's - RB and TE's they just need the QB I would take Nix @ 8 if I were them if he sucks with all that talent its on him.

Some Teams even us should be looking at that Jake Browning kid or Drew Lock I think they fixed him. Joshua Dobbs with the Vikings came on last year.

Sure they would give up a 4th if they really believe that Mac would be their starter....which is still a risk....

Me? I'd be happy to get a 5th-7th and just move on. AND I still think Mac can play in this league....

I thought we were already saying that?

Nix at 8 is a huge reach

I guess Mac convinced Belichick to make Patricia the offensive coordinator and Judge the quarterback coach in 2022.

Doesn't matter. Mac is horrendous. You could have McVay and Shanahan's love child back there and it would make no difference with Mac. As soon as other teams realized he couldn't throw an out, it was all over.
