Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

That should be your response to Mayo talking about how his locker room should look like the world, and how he is not colorblind so that he can see racism. This is a disasterous way to pick and team and going to create problems in a locker room if he's going around looking for racism on his team
Honestly, that was my response because I have no idea what you’re talking about. There was nothing particularly novel or controversial about what Mayo said and I have no idea why you’re so triggered by his remarks. Too many people have lost their damn minds, sadly.

What are you basing that on? YOu are literally looking at a box and trying to guess whats in inside.. It's way too early to judge. We don't even have a qb or coordinators yet.
In another post ... it was pointed out that when the new season rolls around... there will be only 3 or 4 persons left from a superbowl winning team.

Mayo is unproven. The offense is in shambles... Mac Jones is still looking like the qb... and now a new DC and OC that Mayo has never worked with.

Patriots fans have been spoiled over the last 20 years(last couple not so much)...

If Mayo doesn't pull at least 8 wins out of his hat... pats fans will call for his head.

It's amusing to see all the rah rah ReAl PaTrIoT fans take a 180 degree turn and criticize everything the Pats are doing. The same fans that questioned the fandom of anyone that criticized Belichick are doing the same now that he is gone.

It goes to show how hypocritical they all were. Just a bunch of Belichick jock sniffers. I hope they all follow their one and only saviour to Atlanta and become Falcon fans. Hahaha, this is awesome.
The same people that were willing to roll it back after a disasterous season are now in "Mayo has a short leash"mode. They didn't get what they wanted so now they want the team to fail. Real Pats fans tho

Mac Jones is still looking like the qb...
What? Where are people getting this. The dude was the 3rd string emergency QB in the last game they played. He didn't even get put into games where Zappe sucked it up.

Mac will be traded this off-season either before the draft or during training camp. The starter will be whoever the Pats pick at #3.

Or a veteran if they sign one. But I agree, I don't see Mac being here in 2024, I think that ship has sailed. I think they move on from him, sign a bridge veteran, draft someone for the future, but then also explore what they have in Rourke. Those moves likely will put Zappe's future here back up in the air again heading into this season, but I don't think he did enough to solidify himself. Especially with how the final two games played out, unfortunately.

The man who benched 10 was terminated by the man who refused to allow him to trade 10.

I think Kraft wanted Jones as qb all season.

I found the press conference disappointing. One hears how "smart" Mayo is. I didn't hear it, frankly. I understand this was not an occasion for detail on how the various interviews/decisions are going, but I thought his handling of the necessary gibberish and boilerplate was clumsy and maladroit: unimpressive. He managed to say about as much as we typically got from Bill: not a damned thing basically. Hopefully when he has something more substantive to offer, his presentation will be more focused and coherent. The "thundercat" thing was embarrassingly asinine. Why not make kissing the boss's ass a private thing? I found his animus re "finger pointers" potentially concerning. It is odd simultaneously to offer a warning to those who express their disagreement more pointedly (!) even as one emphasizes how "collaborative" one intends to be. We have all suffered through work situations in which our opinions are "welcome" but where the quality of one's welcome depended entirely on your offering a view the boss finds agreeable. All the mawkish Oprah crap was of no interest to me whatsoever. Nice kids. So what?

We'll see. Presumably the Krafts have seen in Mayo something more than a pleasing travel companion. Hopefully - presumably - they have seen in him reason for hope he can be a successful manager of a very complex enterprise which is presently in a state of failure. In his initial press conference, I saw no such thing. I'm gonna assume there's something more there. I really want to be positive. I intend to be. But to this point, it's a big fat meh for me. He's a nice guy, but we've already got a handle on finishing last>

I think you're wrong.
We all saw Kraft's reaction after that interception, so I would think that game in Germany ended any support he may have been holding onto, whatever it may have been or still is. I also think that's why they have to move on.

Or he blamed it on Bill Belichick - and, as Tom Curran wrote - the decision was made after that game to fire him.

I'm sure some of the blame is placed there. But at the end of the day - and I've obviously been among those who kept some benefit of the doubt when it came to Mac - he did enough mind-blowingly bad things last season that it ended things for me. While he certainly wasn't provided the best opportunities to win (offensive line, receivers, etc.), you can't preach mechanics and fundamentals each week and show zero improvement, all the while doing things like throw back across your body, continually throw off your back foot, etc.

I've said it before but I think he started listening to people in his camp who placed blame elsewhere, instead of just focusing on himself. I think he was quietly bitter and I think it negatively impacted him, and I just don't see a path forward for him here.

I don't expect people who agree with his comments to understand what I'm talking about. Hopefully his DEI cultural Marxist worldviews don't truly dictate how he runs a team and manages this locker room. And if they do, this is going to be a bad experiment, and look out for locker room issues next year

As anxious as you are to make everything a referendum on "bad old Belichick," this has nothing to do with him. Questions involving the lack of process behind Mayo's selection, his inexperience and front office power vacuum are completely reasonable considering present circumstances.

I think we all are united wanting Jerod to succeed and the GM situation to get settled/clarified. At this moment the Patriots are pretty far behind most teams re. functioning organizational infrastructure. Hopefully they have a plan to to catch up quickly. Suffice to say that if ever there was a time to exercise patience from a fan perspective, this is it.

Oh my God, Marxists!! Stop

I think what he said at the conference could be taken different ways, not sure but I didn't hear anything wrong with what he said and I'm certainly not seeing any racism on his part, if fact, quite the opposite. He was honest and I didn't expect them to lay out a plan for the future, he may have a lot more to say on that subject in the future.

“DEI cultural Marxist worldviews”

What is this word salad?

For you: Too much CNN/MSNBC. And no, I don't watch FOX News or reasonable facsimile thereof.
I don’t watch any of those. That’s why I don’t vomit buzzwords that 90% of the country have no clue what you are talking about.
