Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

If most people were being honest they would say its a tough position for anyone to enter into. Not so much unlike taking over as the replacement for TB, not including Cam in that. Deep down inside they probably expect similar results to what they have seen out of the replacement at QB.
But, you have to start somewhere, so here we are.

To paraphrase an old saying: "You don't want to be the guy who follows a legend. You want to be the guy that follows the guy who followed a legend."

I don't recall ever seeing an opening press conference with a new head coach saying, "I'm in charge" during any of his comments with the media...?

This is how a high T confident HC handles conferences.

You know, I noticed during Mayo's presser he got some "heys" as a greeting.

I see it as more of a testosterone check. Go type your political leanings into Google then see where the studies say you fall on the low-T spectrum.
Sounds like the type of thing a guy who is insecure about his masculinity would say. It actually explains a lot, why you feel the need to compensate with some of your views.

I thought Pierce was announced today? We were still first.
Interm HCs count as HCs, that was back in November. Steelers had an all black coaches team when they canned Canada.

Anyway, have Pats even selected their coaches yet?

The only 'problem' is that he made some people uncomfortable with his answer.
Isn’t a press conference introducing a HC supposed to be an event that doesn’t make fans uncomfortable with his answers?

Are you saying people don’t matter, or just ones with different opinions than you?

Of course you have. They indicate it by laying out what their vision is.
Dan Campbell wanted to bite kneecaps, for example.
Every top HC I can think of cans in with a blueprint of exactly what he wanted to do.

We all are at this point. We'll see if his non echo chamber system is a plus or not.
Simple question.
Would you rather hire a leader who had a clear plan that you believe and the will to stick to it, or a guy who says I want my underlings to advise me?

When you're following the biggest **** in NE coaching history, it helps for future recruits to know there's a change; especially when there's dozens of players that experienced the same arrogance and ****ness by Josh, FatM and Judge.

Mayo was advertising to the NFL coaches and players that things will be different in NE. I assure you, that'll open the door for many to want to come here that wouldn't otherwise.

I just hope it's the guys who want to work hard, get better and play as a team. Instead of the headcases who are looking for excuses to screw off (like Trent Brown), want to be coddled and will gleefully walk all over a coach if given half a chance.

LoL - is this a serious question? No such thing as a good leader who does not listen to advice or learn from others. Leaders first and foremost are people managers. A large part of managing people is listening to them.

I don't think that's what he said, he said he was willing to listen to other opinions, he never said he wants underlings to advise him.

Right, I've been playing the long game pretending to have anti-woke views all these years. Waiting and hoping someone might be aware of the studies linking those views to higher male hormone levels.

On a related note, I'm sure your doctor could prescribe you a testosterone patch or something to help you stop from being such a gigantic ****y.

I can't say when the Patriots play their first game of the 2024 Season but I believe the Season will begin on September 5th, 2024. I hope it doesn't happen but after all the amount of **** stirred up after a few words said at our new coaches first press conference, from this moment forward I can imagine that every new staff member hired or retained, every free agent signed or not signed, every draft pick, and everything Patriots will be dissected and torn apart before the first game of the 2024 season is ever played.

The best way I can describe the past 4 seasons is that they have been a ****ing nightmare. I happen to be an Old **** who didn't have any problems with the press conference. Having watched the scowls of Rod Rust and hugs of **** Macpherson, what's the big deal? Those two coaches both sucked but I'd choose Macpherson over Rust any day.

In the meantime, until I get to see how our team plays on the field, I'll just assume that they'll be much better than this past season. I'd rather think positively than negatively. Life's too short. . .

A long time ago, Andy's employers were debating if he could lead a team. They looked at each other and .....

The path to failure is littered with people who couldn’t take charge.

I didn’t mean to imply that’s what he said, I was giving the extremes of 2 types of approaches in order to make a point.
It’s fine if you think the best guy to run the ship thinks the best way to do so is by hiring subordinates who are going to disagree with him. I happen to think a cohesive staff all on the same page with one, effective, knowledgeable clear voice leading them works better.
I’ve just never seen the first way work out very well.

I agree and I think that's what he meant.

You’re a pretty weird guy with this whole low-T tangent. You’ve evidently run out of anything half-intelligent to say.
