Mayo's Intoductory Press Conference

Mayo had plenty of stock phrases/cliches - seems already over his head - Krafty can barely put two sentences together. Vague responses to draft and GM duties. We don't have a HOF coach any longer but at least we got diversitai!
So ability to not speak coach speak would tell you that Mayo is going to be a good coach, but because we didn’t get anything fresh, he’s going to be a bust? Really?

They don’t. It’s almost always grab ass and feel good stuff. This was no different.
It's part of learning the new role. People still talk about Nick Sirianni's awkward first news conference.

Mayo rubbed me the wrong way during his press conference. As for Kraft, he is an idiot and just went around in circles. I really can't stand him anymore.

Loved Mayo as a player , not so much as a coach due to his demeanor. I hope I am wrong and he can turn this team around, but if they choose to stick with Mac, it would be his first biggest blunder as the head coach !!
Well there are a number of reports that players definitely see him as a leader. Not sure what you were looking for - Dan Campbell?

You are completely out of line but then so are all your posts regarding race. I can only speak for myself, rave has nothing to do with it. That is ludicrous especially since I am a woman of Indian origin.
I don’t like to see the person who brought so much joy to this franchise vilified by the fans, it’s wrong and disrespectful. I hope Mayo succeeds because as a fan I want the Pats to always win !!! I just do not like some of you taking potshots at Bill. It’s unnecessary and makes you look bad ! I never disrespected Brady in anyway when he left and I hoped that our fan base would give Bill the same courtesy. And by the way, I am a gen-x , so not a snowflake. I’m fact this politically correct society we live in today IMO is complete BS. It’s been taken so far that it’s making this world unbearable.
Clearly I wasn't referring to you. They all know who they are.

But it wasn't me that brought up race. And I find it curious you don't have an issue w/ the mysogony being spurted in the Robyn Glaser thread.

Listen, I understand the realities of implicit bias in culture, and classic racism does exist in America - at the micro level.
But the reason Mayo's SJW comment bothered me was this:
Kraft - a white billionaire - had just stated that he DID NOT take your skin color into account when making you HC (the literal face of his empire) but rather based it on your skillset, character, and experience... (the literal definition of MLK's dream becoming reality)
And, you respond by essentially saying that color should be involved in filling out the rest of the staff/team in order to fight "racism" - (which is using ethnicity/color as a metric of merit). It's a living hypocrisy.
When one wakes up from this woke hallucination thrust upon the masses, they may see how insidious and destructive that is.

Yea, Bill said less than nothing in his pressers and he was idolized. Double standard much?

I actually haven’t read that thread yet. I will read it soon and see what you are referring to.

I guess my experience is that introductory press conferences don’t usually lay out a huge vision such as you expect.
Did a say “layout a huge vision”?

There was no shred of a plan. Asked how far they were from contending Mayo, who has been part of the staff for 5 years, and heir apparent first least one, said he will have to evaluate. Asked what the offense needs to improve he stutter his way into talking about the weight room.
Lots of “we will do what we do” type of stuff from Kraft.

You just blew up the brain trust of the greatest dynasty ever and offered no comments about what you think was wrong and what you want to change.

Will it be relevant when they're winning?

I agree, they should've just said "we're on to the off-season" over and over again.

Also Mayo:
"We are planting seeds, and hopefully that will lead to the next dynasty here with the Kraft family."

He doesn't care about wins because trying to build a dynasty has nothing to do with wins.

Kraft hired who he wanted to. Glad to see you support his choice.

Maybe Mayo believes white people are evil.

Your responses are only proof you didn't read what I wrote and only focused on what triggered you.

All that was covered yesterday and you'd know that if you took the time to comprehend what it was I was actually saying.

Here’s Bill’s detailed plan from his introductory press conference in 2000.

“I'm focused on the Patriots football team, the players, trying to get with the staff, the organization and trying to move as quickly as we can to make up for the time that has been lost between now and the end of the season where other teams have had a chance to move along.
As many of you know who have covered me and followed my career my basic philosophy on defensive football and overall in terms of winning football games is to have a strong, tough physical, both mentally and physical team and to try to be as well prepared as we possibly can for all situations that will come up in the course of the game and in terms of preparing for the game and for the season. As quickly as I can put those things into place here that's what I'll do. The shopping list is quite a long one, but the staff, speaking with the members of the current staff, coaching staff considerations, players, salary cap issues, personnel issues. Free agency is right around the corner. There's a lot of things that need to be done in a relatively short amount of time and I'm going to look as hard as I possibly can to get those things done efficiently and in a manner which will give our football team the best opportunity to win. That's all I really am about is trying to win football games.”

Yea, that's not what he said at all.

This is a naive take. America was never a true melting pot. It was never the land of equal opportunities. Societies change. The only people that seem to have an issue with this so called 'woke' idea (which has been completely misappropriated) are a minority of white people. The rest of society including the majority of whites don't give a ****.

Take this conference for example. Simple announcement of the new HC. The media asks a race related question. They answer as they feel.

Now, all the snowflakes come out of the woodwork because they get triggered by a response they found offensive. That's weak man. Or maybe worse. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, yet the same people that complain about being so called cancelled, want to cancel anyone that doesn't believe like they do. It's all a bunch of ********.

Actually I think you have it very backward. I applaud Mayo for taking that question and contradicting his owner on the spot with a thoughtful and true statement.

By the way Mayo didn’t say he was filling out the rest of the team with black people. You said that.

yeah,i am surprised one of them didn't cry during the presser. it was so feelings based.
They both seemed very happy to me.

What do you think Bill would've said to those same questions? We'll do what is best for the team.

You'd be perfectly fine with it. Why the double standard now?

It's been 7 days since Bill was canned. The prudent thing to do, when not having all the facts, is to say nothing. We'll find out soon enough.

Finally watched the presser

Kraft is a rambling mess as expected

I didn’t really see the jabs by Mayo to BB. I guess his comments about an echo chamber, but was there more I missed?

Regarding the echo chamber, while I love Bill, it does seem to be more in that direction over recent years. I attribute it more to the increased intervention by Kraft regarding the QB situation (Brady and Mac) but it wouldn’t shock me at all if Bill just stuck with his circle.

I mean he hired Judge and Patricia rather than doing a deep dive of available coaches.

Just trying to look at it from a neutral perspective. I expect tons of jabs at Bill but didn’t seem bad ‍♂️
