Patriots Practice News.. LOTS of it.

I'm hopeful for Wade, we certainly need the bodies. But I wonder if we're hyping this kid up as a savior a bit too much right now. He was a 5th round pick, who got moved for another fifth round pick. He may have upside but I'm not expecting him to come in and be a huge contributor automatically.
I'm not looking at him as a savior. And honestly I have been so swamped with work and studying for Microsoft exams that I need to take I haven't watched or read any news the past few weeks. So if there is a bunch of talk about him, I am unaware. I just saw his name in this thread and that he was back at practice. That is good news.

Yes he was a 5th round pick coming off a down year where he was injured in a shortened covid season. Had he come out last year he would have likely been a 1st round pick. I think we will find out quickly what he is or where he is at. Because if the Pats don't trade for a CB he will have significant playing time by default.

Wade was in the Ravens camp all summer, and at the end of the summer, he was their lowest prospect on the totem pole, and was shipped out for a 5th round pick. BB occasionally finds "diamonds in the rough", but after 2 months in the Ravens camp I think it is unlikely that the Ravens missed on his evaluation (the Ravens are good at evaluating DBs). I assume he is a role player, niche guy. Doubt he is ever a shutdown corner - those guys are obvious from the start - see JC Jackson in the Pats training camp his first year - everyone knew he would be good and BB would not have traded JC Jackson after training camp for a 5th round pick to save a roster spot.

Trent Brown nearly played vs Saints and Bucs lmao. What in the world happened to that calf.

Ravens are deep and veteran at the position. Wade would have gone to their PS, likely, or would have taken up an inactive (unless and until injury) spot on the 53.

The reports coming up - just googled them again - said he was impressing them and playing pretty well.

We'll see where this goes, but I wanted the Pats to pick him in the draft and am glad they got him now. I think they would have taken him in the 5th if he was still there, but the Ravens grabbed him (and maybe they like McGrone, too), but I would have hated them drafting Wade ahead of Stevenson in the fourth.

I agree it is a good trade, glad we got Wade, Stevenson, AND McGrone. All great draft prospects in the later rounds.

If the coaching evaluations were so impressive, the Ravens would not have traded him. Maybe he blossoms, but not a significant chance of him being a #1 corner. Might be a great #3 corner, or a FS? Who knows but he has a long way to go.

The hope is we're finally on the other side of a Cre'von LeBlanc situation where a team had too many good corners and had to get rid of one.

At the time, it looked partially true. The Ravens CB group looked extremely deep on paper before any games were played. Wade was not talked about as a star of camp, though.

Let's hope Wade is TONS better than LeBlanc. LeBlanc is a JAG. I don't expect Wade to be a #1 corner, but that does not mean I expect him to be LeBlanc.

This is false information. Wade wasn't the lowest on the totem pole. Your making assumption without any facts. I showed that this idea that he was the lowest was false prognostications by people since he had an excellent training camp and games. Some say he outplayed Brandon Stephens.

Your assumption aren't supported by fact. Did you stop to think that maybe BB reached out to the Ravens seeing that they had a GLUT of DBs and specifically asked for Wade, turning down others that the Ravens offered? No. You didn't.

In fact, here is an article that shows that your statements aren't supported by fact.

"“In Baltimore, according to sources, Wade has shown he definitely can play in the league, but he was not going to break through a deep Ravens defensive backfield,” The backfield that included ELITE CBs in Marcus Peters and Marlon Humphrey. The Ravens 3rd round pick in Brandon Stephens, veteran CB/S Jimmy Smith, 4th year player Averrett, and excellent slot corner Tavon Young.

Thanks for telling me what I think and don't think. Your telepathic ability to know other's thoughts is remarkable. You and @Deus Irae are gems.

I hadn't even posted in this thread. Hell, I didn't even know this thread existed. So leave me out of whatever nonsense you're involved with here.

Mystery DB is an awesome player. I am shocked he was available for the Pats to pick up. You could say it is a mystery he was available.

Thanks! I'll be here all week! Try the veal!
