Would We Sign Drew Brees

Disliking Brees is just ridiculous. Holy shyt.
I don’t think he’s a bad dude but his involvement with that church that does conversation therapy is very messed up.

What do you mean by "conversion therapy?"

I wouldn't mind Brees at all. Right now, he's probably better than Stidham and Belichick would love to win another SB with a HOF QB. However, it is incredibly unrealistic for the Pats to be able to pay him. If he wants to come at a significant discount, then fine.

Gay conversation therapy

2021 Brees wouldn't be any more satisfied with trash receivers and a pay cut than 2020 Tom Brady was.

His involvement in the focus on family group was limited to a bring your bible program. He had no awareness that the group was associated with any kind of hate, so he even equated anti gay messaging with hate and said christianity teaches love and accepting everybody.

He's still a great QB, not the brightest guy, but a great QB nonetheless.

I think he's very sharp. I also think he's outspoken, which can get him in trouble. He came out swinging against Goodell during Bountygate. Our owner didn't have the guts.

From my understanding there wasn't any involvement other than making a video for bring your Bible to school day.

Sure, everything I hear about Drew is that he's a good guy.

Personal opinion on his comments

I take more offense to people driving around with ripped and tattered flags or flying them in darkness. How many times have you seen some car or truck driving down the road with a torn or dirty flag? If you're going to fly the flag, that's completely disrespectful IMO and those rules are spelled out. Kneeling for the anthem is pretty mild compared to that in my list of pet peeves but I don't show up at their work and demand them be fired or vandalize their property. I have never heard anyone make a big deal about it or want to pass a law on those violations of edicate either. If you're going to fly it, treat it with the respect you claim to have for it and quit being lazy.

Just to add to this since my observations are active :) , stop standing and using the national anthem for a time to twist and stretch out. You want to kneel and take a deliberate action, fine. In some way, you're actually giving the flag/anthem some weight by choosing that symbol. How respectful is it to use that time as an opportunity to stretch, adjust your seat, take off your coat, or worse yet, to know it's coming so you use that time to make a pit stop? Those are disrespectful actions too but the difference is that you aren't giving it the weight it should have. :)

No

Not because of his first ammendment rights.

He is old. Furthermore, Brees would go from the best in Mike Thomas and Alvan Kamara to Harry and Sony.
The ENTIRE Bill of Rights is only a couple paragraphs long. I wish people would be required to include the text of an amendment before pontificating about it. The First Amendment only prohibits CONGRESS from making laws infringing on free speech. The NFL -- or any other employer or organization -- in not prohibited from infringing. Honestly, Union Schools will be the end of The American Experiment.

The First Amendment text reads:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
BTW, when your browser puts a red squiggly line under a word in your post, you spelled the word wrong. Right click the word and The Internet will make you look smarter.

I think he is a good player, just don’t think he will be that great here with the receiving core we have.

Also he is up there in age, so I don’t think he is going to come here on the cheap, he probably would want a win now team and NE is not that place now, at least for another year that is.

Weird how I have become so obsessed with Patriots news.

On my phone I just checked WEEI headlines and it read-

President Trump thinks Drew B....

All I thought about was why is Trump thinking about Drew Bledsoe.

Brees isn’t going anywhere. He either stays in a dome or retires.

He was completely correct in his statement and position on the subject. He caved under pressure. Feel sorry for him in having to retract his opinion/statement but again....he was completely correct and accurate. Fire all players kneeling during OUR national anthem!!!

Let me be the first to say the following.... If Al Sharpton speaks at your funeral, I am no longer paying attention.
Sharpton is a horrible “human” being and should be in jail after Bradley incident

You're going to hate me for saying this but I'm ok with kneeling although it did bother me at first.

The flag means a lot in our family. My father and his brother are both buried in Veteran cemeteries. Many of my family members have served or are still serving.

But as much as I love this country and what it stands for I believe that our black brothers need our help and understanding. I served with many black brothers and still keep in touch with them. It's clear that their lives have not had the same blessings as mine although being just as qualified to do the same things as I can. I've also seen enough weird stuff throughout my life to know that things aren't equal.

My point throughout this thread was that the flag is not just a piece of cloth. It's not. And trying to have a conversation with someone who dismisses it's value is worthless.

It looks like the league is supporting kneeling now. I wonder what that means for Brees as the league moves forward. If things continue as they are, I could see the league suspending him.
