Gronk trade completed

I hope the Bucs lose every game they play. I’m willing to bet a lot of these “So excited I can root for an NFC team now” people have zero actual ties to New England. Probably cheer for the Patriots and whatever team LeBron is playing for this week.

Nope I barely enjoy Basketball and only follow the Celtics anyway. The other 29 teams can kick rocks. Mahcus Smaht and the Jay's for life. **** LeFraud and the serpent KD who spurned us!!!! The only guy I really want back is IT. He gave heart, soul, and body for this team.

I have no problem with both Tom and Gronky leaving, and I understand both had issues playing for BB again, but for different reasons.

For Gronk I think the problem is more about the rigors, the mental stress, I think he feels he's always been underpaid even though he got that big money (at the time) upfront and he knows that, but considering the way all his injuries have been mismanaged at times and the fact he always put his body in the line of fire and gave 100%, I think he feels underappreciated.

For Tom, I think he was tired about saving BB's the GM azz every year and not getting some return or some help, recognition, money or anything in between. Seriously, BB has been fielding putrid offenses since the draft of Gronk and Hernandez and last year it was a shame.

Now not only his drafts are terrible but there's a cap aspect to it as well. The Pats found themselves in this offseason in cap hell with no QB signed. And now we are in this situation because they didn't have money to pay Brady (I still think money was not his main goal) and to sign receivers for him to throw the ball and that's the main reason he left.

Teams around the league are paying more money to their QB's and still able to sign good players.

There are many ways to build winning teams, spending in starters and throwing the depth on the toilet, the opposite of that, and a middle ground. BB has always choosen to spread the money all over the roster and you can't deny it worked out but you can't really have depth if you don't draft well. There's not enough money to pay for good 53 players if you don't have a bunch of them in rookie contracts. You have to have some organic depth created through draft. And that's where I think the Pats lost some track in the past couple of years resulting in last year roster and this years (pre-draft of course) roster that is now considered a bottom 5 in terms of talent.

I don't have any confidence in BB doing a great rebuild, he has many picks so he will hit a few of them of course but it is my opinion for a long time he should only coach and someone else should be the GM, it could be Caserio but with 100% autonomy, right now he's just a intern senior level.

Since that draft we’ve been in the top 5 in scoring offense every year until this past one. Having a GOAT at qb is the biggest reason why but he still needs good players around him to be this consistent year in and year out.

lets package the 7th we received from the Bucs along with Sanu and send them down to Tampa

Except we didn’t receive a 7th. We sent one of our 7s with Gronk for a 4th.

This is funny but I'm not sure if you meant it to be? The Pats gave the Bucs the 7th rounder in the trade, not the other way around.

They're not all stars but there are a lot of good players who have left in recent years and not all that many added in that same time period.

During that time period, what was the Patriots record and how many World Championships did they win?

If they get Gronk, they'll win the Supet Bowl...assuming he can get back into football shape.
They could possibly win the Supet Bowl, whatever TF that is.

Sorry to break it to you, but this team has a lot of holes, particularly at the most important position in football. QB.

We have Stidham who even players and even reports throughout last year were raving about him.

Well, let's thank our lucky stars that Bruce Arians has "principles." Otherwise, AB would be heading for Tampa Bay too and a trip to, OMG, Tampa Bay for SB LV. But, don't worry, the Jests or Dolphins will take him.

Trading up to get Tua would be the dumbest of dumb moves. So I'm afraid, after many years of feasting, we have a famine and a long season ahead. The only thing standing between the Pats and 5--11 or 3--13 is Belichick's ego (or, not a laughing matter, Covid 19). Under his leadership and assuming there is a season, the Pats will probably claw their way to 8--8 or 9--7.

Let's be grateful for what we witnessed over the last 20 years and, more importantly, let's be hopeful for the future.

How many of you remember the glimmer of hope you felt when the Tuck call came on that snowy, cold night when you had just despaired? Were you there or do you remember watching the still grainy image on your old box TV? I remember that I couldn't wait to watch "Three Games to Glory" and actually be able to see it.

How many of your remember your elation when #4's kicks cleared the uprights to tie and win the Oakland game and win SB XXXVI? I do and I'll never forget. Thank you, TB12 and BB!

I'm not giving up...but this run is over. Go Pats!

Teammates trying to boost each other’s confidence. It means nothing until we see it on the field.

Brady is clearly not the difference between 10+ wins and a top 5 pick in the draft. Matt Cassel proved that.

Belichick is though. And we still have him.

How did Matt prove that?

haha...you guys are right. but you get the point :)

Plan A was derailed by Andrews, Devlin Cannon Mason el al. Bill wanted to run first a la the playoffs the year before.
Except I'm amazed how people forget Sanu's one game played with TB prior to this high ankle sprain, 10 receptions and a TD. I believe Sanu was a top waiver wire pickup in fantasy as everyone thought he would excel with Brady. Then the ankle sprain. It's hard to predict injuries when making a trade.

How did Matt prove that?

11-5 when he was the QB. Also JG/Jacoby were 3-1 when Brady was suspended.

So Brady’s absence clearly doesn’t mean this team is guaranteed to be falling off a cliff. BB will make sure of that.

Gronk doesn't have to be the 10 TD, 1000+ yard TE, his value will be in making necessary plays and (if he puts weight back on), creating running lanes with his dominant blocking. That said, I don't like how he's conducted himself these past few seasons (and I'm generally in favor of players leaving for more playing opportunities, cashing in where they can etc.).
Just remember, Gronk (and TB) went to TB to have fun. As BB, Lombardi, Parcells, Walsh and others have proven, winning and fun don't necessarily coexist.
