Edelman’s future with the Pats ?

I’m about laughing that someone thinks Edelman would net a 2nd. 3-5 is more like it.

Laugh away.
But think first.
He'd land a 2nd because he's a SB MVP on a CHEAP contract.
The main reason is the assumption that Brady has primed his new team to accept his wishes to have his bromance join him at whatever price (OK, obviously not a 1st)
If not a 2nd, why would BB trade him????

Wouldn't shock me to see Brady, Edelman, and A.B. all try to get on the same team together.

Imagine trading Edelman to Brady’s new team for a 1st or 2nd round pick lol.

not gonna lie, Brady with Evans, Godwin, Edelman and Howard as receivers would be pretty nasty. I'd like to see it happen, Pats need to get young anyway.

As far as what he might be worth in a trade, I'd be really surprised if he nets anything more than a 3rd, and even that's probably aiming high. 4th-5th seems more likely, and that's with the Bucs' desire to please Brady priced in. 34 year old, injury-plagued receivers don't have a lot of trade value.

Edelman would absolutely net a 2nd, plus more. Have you looked at his contract?

Plus if he leaves in FA next year....the comp pick could be as high as a 3rd rounder..depending on his new contract.

He is 34 years old in a couple of months clown shoes.

Emmanuel Sanders is the same age and had an expiring contract (twice as much money) and isn't as good as Edelman. What did the Broncos get for him?

Has there been any credible source that said Brady wanted input into the roster? Because honestly, it’s kind of a ridiculous idea.
I've seen it said that Brady wanted some level of roster control quite a few times, but I don't know where it originates from or if it's legitimate. I don't know how deep "roster control" goes - don't think he's out there signing guys himself, but I don't believe it's far fetched that he might want to be on a team where he can tell his coach he wants a specific FA receiver that they can afford and that happens.

TBH, specifically Antonio Brown comes to mind.

I don't think AB can follow Brady now - maybe Edelman can get moved and be the slot guy.

I think for a third, I’d let Tampa take him.

Yeah, consider the fact that it’s also a cap savings and the draft is deep at WR. If you think he’s gonna leave in a year to go with Tom, may as well do it. No better time to restock with a cheaper rookie on a team that’s retooling anyway.

That said - if he’s actually loyal to the Patriots, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he was - you keep him, extend him even. He’s just like Brady from a work ethic standpoint and the offense could probably use his leadership and veteran guidance if he’s gonna stick around.

I’m pretty sure Edelman wants out. He’s not looking forward to getting hospital balls thrown his way.

He will be relied upon way too much with this team. He needs to go to team as the 3rd option or else he’ll be out of the league fairly soon.

I would take a 3rd and a 4th for Edelman.

Bill could trade Edelman to Tampa Bay in return for Tom Brady.

Yep he was really beat up at the end last year.

My opinion is that Julian Edelman is possibly as important to this team as Messier was to the Oilers after Gretzky likewise bolted for a warm climate.

My standards have not changed since Fairbanks was hired. Super Bowl or Bust.

Im hoping he does

The Patriots won't be contending this year... I would hate to see him get hung out to dry by a young QB. Edelman even got his bell ring quite a few times with the GOAT .

Bucs have picks to burn though.

I mean I don’t think Edelman is averse to playing on a team that’s not guaranteed to be great, necessarily. I think the guy may even want to step up and fill the leadership void if Bill wants that from him.

As far as injury concerns go, to be honest he’s probably a little safer, since I would hope that the next QB would spread the ball out more and not zero in on him so much. They’d probably also design more plays for the other WRs to generate offense/yards.

The Truth hurts Nun you thought Brady was coming back to this dumpster fire O Not!
