Jimmy Garoppolites appreciation thread

Let's recap:

  1. You claimed that it was insane to put the blame on JAG, an obviously untrue statement given his two picks and your admission that the first of the two impacted the game.
  2. I acknowledged that I hadn't watched the game, and talked only about those picks, of which, again, you've acknowledged one impacted the game.

So there's something here that's par for the course, alright. That thing is you saying really silly stuff in game/post game threads.

Watch the game.

Come back if you still feel like putting your energy into something that doesn't matter

Grop kept rolling to the right ... taking half the field away from himself.
He sucks at stepping up ... he panics .. so he rolls right and hurts himself.
He's young - he'll learn ... but for this game the Chiefs exploited his lack of pocket awareness.

I don't need to watch the game to find amusement at your blatant hypocrisy. Thanks for the offer, though.

The part in bold is the important thing. He's been in the league a while, but he's still young as a starter. He helped get his team to the SB. If he was/was not sub par in the SB itself, that doesn't change what came before it.

The game in the 4th quarter was moving too fast for him and it showed.
Being hurt last year really hurt him for the game today in the long run.

Great. Wonderful. Fantastic!!!!

Officiating impacted this game more than kermit the frog or jag.

But you prolly dont believe in such atrocities

You really think that.... after 18 games and dominating both their playoff games?

Getting away from the run late did them in again and no one should be surprised.

What about staring his wideouts and overthrowing sanders? He needed to put some touch in that pass. Jimmy G is one of those guys i feel that’s in the same class as prescott and cousins.

Overthrowing Sanders wasn't great but it's a 40 yard pass, missing it isn't "choking" or whatever. Those aren't gimmes regardless of what video games say.

Not going through his progressions may be tougher, I'd probably have to watch it again or read more analysis.

I'm just saying that if you want to rank the reasons for the 49ers losing, Jimmy G isn't in the top 5. Maybe 8. He was fine. He was 18/21 at one point late in the third quarter. If his team gives up 14 in the fourth quarter and he can't immediately pull off a legendary 2 minute drive like Brady, then I wouldn't call that choking.

He looked like a deer in the headlights - yes I do think that.
The game sped up ... Chiefs made sure it did.
The book on Grop was already there ... he gets the jitters.
Wasn't all his fault ... just discussing him is all. Defense gagged for 3 4th quarter TD's.

And yet, the bogus td that never happened sealed the game.

Brady wins this same game given the same opportunity but that's different than saying Jimmy personally lost this

Thanks Jimmy for throwing up two picks and choking away a Super Bowl victory which otherwise would have had freaking Garoppolites spewing their " we should have kept him and traded Brady" bull shyt alive.

Super Bowls are hard to win. Keeping Brady was infinitely the right choice.

Brady : 6-3

Jimmy Chokoppolo: 0-1

End of story
Frauddopolo is an average QB. Anyone paying attention knew that. In crunch time you it was obvious that Mahomes is an actual elite QB. I mean everyone should have been aware of that already.

I have no problem with you griping about bad officiating, assuming there was some. My issue, and my amusement, was and is strictly about you needlessly being so hypocritical about the way you've chosen to assess JAG's play v. Brady's. It's pathetic, but wildly amusing at the same time.

I have said so many times in this forum that if 1 bad call (and it wasn't)
decides a game for your team that's on you ... and they had that 10 point cushion needed.
They gagged a 10 point lead ... no points in 4th quarter - that was a choke.

The playoffs were too big for Jackson in his first full year as a starter. Why should you be surprised if the same is true (I'm not saying it was, and am just asking the obvious question) of JAG?

Jimmy G is ass

if that was a pats game we start celebrating getting the ball back with 2 minutes to go and down 4 points

:( Not one of your better efforts Tony, passing full verdict on Garoppolo after one season as a starter and one Super Bowl effort in which he played at MVP level into the fourth quarter. While it might be OK to challenge those who wanted to keep JG over Brady three years ago, it also is fair to assume that Jimmy will be a starter in this league long after Brady retires.

What's crazy is that teams blowing ten point plus leads in the 4th Quarter of SB's is becoming more common. Pats did it to Seattle and Atlanta. I think they did it to Philly. Before ultimately falling. Now tonight.

Tends to happen to teams that go too heavy with a pass rush all game.
If you can hang in there - keep it close - by the 4th quarter they are gassed.
The strategy is okay if you can quick points up ... 9'ers didn't do that.

Brady and Mahomes. Sometimes it’s that simple.
