I'm going to end on this note because honestly, today has been fairly trying.

I love all of you and just understand this isn't an exact science. All I can promise is that we'll always do the best we can. If you go back to the opening post of this thread, I hope I at least offered some sort of insight into the guideline we all try and work under. There's no way 100% of everyone is going to agree with it and I get that, but I'd like to think after almost 20-years that most of you know me well enough to know that everything is always done with the best intentions, even if it doesn't always seem like it. I'm far from perfect, but hopefully, you all know me enough to believe the effort will always be there to try and make things a little better.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who chimed in on this, positive or negative. The feedback is always appreciated. Hopefully all of you get some rest and feel free to continue the replies here and I'll try and respond in-between whatever I'm hit with at work tomorrow.

I don't think anyone here has any doubt about this.

I self-sanctioned, reported, removed, and warned myself for one of my posts in the casual chat thread. I’m taking a more proactive approach in 2020.

Chose not to read 14 pages of discussion regarding moderation of this discussion board, but agree that the moderation is very good compared to other venues.

This is a sports forum where passionate Pats fans often disagree, sometimes that line gets crossed, but overall the boundaries are well maintained.

If you see something that crosses the line report it, there is no way the mods can review every thread on this board.. been involved with this board since 2004 and have no complaints.

Better than what? If he chooses to not come back here you think that makes him
a bad person?
No it makes him a weenie.

No it makes him a weenie.
Disagree. If he feels he doesn’t want to post here that’s his choice and is not a reflection of a character flaw as you are implying.

Ian, every post you've ever made that I've read, has to me clearly come across as having the best intentions. Without exception.

...but I'd like to think after almost 20-years that most of you know me well enough to know that everything is always done with the best intentions, even if it doesn't always seem like it...

Geez, you should really go shopping for a sense of humor. RW wasn’t saying he is a “bad person” at all. He was actually complimenting him for being a great a poster before.

Maybe PJ will return and change his name to Abie Johnstein?

.

Running/moderating a board is a thankless job.

So you're not bringing back the Political Forum?

Interesting and informative post Ian. I hadn't posted in a long time because I was pretty hot after being banned from a game day thread a while back. I didn't, and still do not believe that was appropriate because A. I never got a reason, B. I SUSPECT it was because I was critical of the team...as I am when they stink it up. It felt heavy-handed by a mod, and time has only reinforces my belief. If only positive comments can be made in GDT's though...I'm out on those, no problem. BUT...I do appreciate the insight into the underlying SOP's. I also run multiple groups and have a bunch of mods...sometimes they mess up, and it isn't an easy thing to know what to police. I appreciate the insight.

Serious question:

Why does everyone delight so much and feel like it’s such an important birthright to participate in the Gameday Threads?

IMO, it’s easily the worst thread on the forum every week. It isn’t insightful. It’s basically just a bunch of people typing one sentence like “Come on! Need a stop here!” or “Gillllly! Yess!” It’s not very informative, insightful, and it moves so fast that, IMO, very little is gained from participating in it. And of course there’s a lot of negative emotions because everyone is on edge, as the game can’t possibly live up to expectation as it’s taking place. I’ll go to them once in a while, but I know what they’re going to be, which are just not great by the nature of the thread itself.

The pre-game analysis, post-game reaction thread, and then breakdowns later in the week are fantastic. GDT? Not even sure why I go on there...it’s just added stress. Watching the game is stressful enough.

The increased censorship is something you assured us was not going to happen.

What "increased" censorship? Seriously. I've had my fair share of issues with previous Mods and I have to say that, overall, Ashley, Ross, Icy, etc are a very good group that don't seem to be heavy handed in the least.

I like @Ice_Ice_Brady more and more every month.

I've only encountered 3 times with a mod that resulted in disciplinary action. All GDT.

I do wish the mods can remove their personal feelings a bit more toward what you gotta say about GDT stuff and not over moderate it.

Because being called a troll and threatened removal from a thread because you said a player did a cartwheel instead of running straight for a first down is ridiculous.

If that is all it was, you might have a point. However, you know it wasn't. Stop trying to portray yourself as a victim and the Mods as heavy-handed.

See my targeted harassment reply, I think youd find it quite relevant.

I know not this 'everyone' you speak of.
Personally I find the GDTs toxic in the extreme. Not like a Jete stank level of toxicity  but toxic nonetheless.
