How much do losses affect you?

Why are you listening to them when they win lol..?

I use to listen to sports radio a lot on my commute to & from work.

I now work at home full time, so I spend far less time listening to sports radio.

I avoid sports radio until at least Thursday on weeks when they lose because I don’t like to listen to idiots who know nothing about football criticize Belichick.

My 13 year old knows more about football than the majority of the useless talking heads.

Then again his grandfather use to be a college coach “defensive coordinator”, so he has learned from someone who knows more than the Tony Maz, Lou Merloni, & Gary Tanguay’s of the world.

Typically can ruin the day sometimes, irritating at the least. I usually do a sports blackout (TV and Radio) for two to three days after.

Whiskey helps.

Doesn't bother me as much as it used to. Still ruins the rest of my day if its a huge loss. I'm satisfied with our recent SB victories though. Anything else is just gravy at this point.

What bothers me more than anything is knowing we lost to such an inferior team with so much on the line. What bothers me is having such little faith in this team before the playoffs even start.

I've only watched one game this year. My BIL invited me over to watch the game. I do not remember who they played or if they won.

Hit the podcast world, they are far more intelligent.

Usually ruins the day, but it really comes down to HOW we lost. I was over the eagles game the next day, but I'm still annoyed when I think about the 06 afccg til this day.

Used to bother me a lot. Whether it's just getting older, having other hobbies (I play board games competitively and losing in those sucks!), or simply being an entitled brat who's seen 6 Super Bowl wins in two decades, it barely even fazes me now. The loss last week sucked but... what can I do about it? Post about it on the internet with you rubes, I guess.

Also find myself totally disinterested in most games not involving the Patriots unless it's a social setting like a bar with friends.

And for the life of me, I can't understand anyone who listens to sports radio. Podcasts are fine but I'd rather listen to the Doughboys or whatever than anything to do with sports. No offense, but some of you just seem to indulge in sports as a means to further amplify your already mind-numbing levels of either masochism or self-loathing, just looking for something to disagree with to be miserable.

...This game sucked and this season has been as frustrating as a 12-4 season can be, but all in all we have it better than all other 31 fanbases. Just curious based on some of the conversation in the other threads about reactions to this game.
Take a wild guess...

As I’ve gotten older losses bother me less and less. Maybe it’s just maturing and realizing there’s a lot more to life than a game. I will be a a crappy mood for a few hours after but will just go and distract myself. Losses I personally took the hardest was 2006 and the 2007 SB. With the SB being the worst. I was super super upset over that one. I still cringe at the highlights and have never listened to Tom Petty the same way. :p

Losing Saturday night won't bother me too much. Would probably be over it by Sunday night. The team isn't expected to make a deep run. We've seen what their issues have been for some time. SB 52 took about three weeks to get over. That was a great team. They were expected to win. And the "What if's" with Butler made it worse. All in all, winning last year made a difference. 6 SB titles. 3 in 5 years.

I still can't hear a Tom Petty song and not think of SB42...

10+ years ago I was an emotional infant when the Pats lost.. it was tough to handle, none moreso than the 2006 AFCCG.. i felt sick for like a WEEK after that game haha, and still have issues I should work out with a shrink because of it lol

Now I just find it frustrating in the moment, but I can move on pretty easily/quickly from it nowadays.

The only one that really affected me was SB 42. Couldn't sleep. Couldn't go to work the next day. Just gutted.

This loss affected me because I feel it affirms what I felt in the 2nd half of the season. This team can’t beat good teams. The 1st half of the season when they were blowing out shyte teams was a mirage. That Boogeymen defense was a mirage.

Once they got on the field against good teams, it was no competition, they aren’t a championship caliber team. To lose the most important game of the regular season against a supposedly vastly inferior team, when they knew what was on the line, showed me who the REAL 2019 Patriots were. And that hurts.

And it also hurts to see Brady deteriorate to a middle of the road QB. The Brady who was incredibly clutch in the miraculous comeback in SB 51, is very far in the rear view mirror. That pick 6 was very Peyton-esque (Peyton’s last year). But even then, I can’t completely blame him for the loss, he gave them the lead with 4 minutes left, and honestly I knew the defense wasn’t going to stop the Dolphins. I knew they wouldn’t come up with a clutch sack, or int, or fumble recovery. They couldn’t stop a high school team today, very embarrassing loss as well.

This is the worst 12-4 team I’ve ever seen (I know, it sounds crazy), but 10 of the wins were against bad teams.

No Dynasty lasts forever. But it hurts to watch it crumble seemingly overnight.

Brady got us the go ahead TD. If the defense makes a stop against Ryan frickin Fitzpatrick, we have a bye week and singing Brady’s praises

Everything’s been gravy since SB 51...

I’m 30 years old I remember the SB loss to Green Bay. I barely remember the next 4 seasons I remember 2001, I know we went 8-8 in 2002 but don’t really recall it. I remember the a bunch of the good bits in between the playoff losses are something g I don’t remember let alone an in season loss the following year.

So I tend not to let them bother me once the game is over it’s over. I support a Soccer team that hasn’t won a single thing in 60 years it’s easy to look past the losses. The game will go on longer than Brady and BB enjoy the good moments and hope they continue, for we have been blessed with 20 years of the most amazing run in American sports. Enjoy!

I remember driving up to NH to watch them lose because they were blacked out

it’s harder when you think they should win

losing to the dolphins was annoying because it was flat out stupid

after the super bowl 42 loss, i quickly realized no loss ever again is significant enough to affect me for more than ten minutes or so

After 6rings, not as much as they used to.

Pre-rings I used to not be upset by losses since for the most part they were pretty frequent and it was a losing organization. During the dynasty (and especially SB 42), losses are generally upsetting. In fact I probably care more about avoiding the feeling of loss than rejoicing in victory. sad I know..
