This may be the second best defense in 40 years

It's very good, but we've come back to earth of late on the "GOAT" defense talk.

It's not the GOAT, but could end up 2nd best in the 16 game era.

Based on giving up 30 to Baltimore...based on giving up 28 to Houston? Or based on giving up 23 at home to Kansas City and a quarterback w an injured throwing hand????

KC: We gave up 3 in the second half last night...AND one TD was a result of Brady throwing an interception on our side of the field. No interception thrown...I don't even think K.C. scores more than 19 points.

HOU: It was an anemic offense coupled with 2-3 big plays given up.

BAL: 37 minutes T.O.P. for the Ravens coupled with an anemic offense....

Thank you @Viper652.

People are just writing off what the D has accomplished by lazily pointing to a few weak teams in favor of *****ing about the offense.
They still have work to do to match the Bears or Ravens but this is not just some fluke the D is legit and deserves to be talked about more.

Surprised some of you can't see how impressive this defense has been.

They will finish better than the 85 Bears in scoring average
I would like to see the schedules the 13, Hawks, 15 Broncos, 2000 Ravens, 85 Bears, 06 Ravens, 77 Falcons, and 02 Bucs defenses played because this defense has absolutely feasted on a cupcake schedule early up until the cowboys offense.

I think the 85 Bears offense was just a teensy bit better then the 19 Pat's offense

The 2000 Ravens defense is underrated. They didn't score a touchdown in 3 straight games on offense.

85 Bears, all time great D yes but not as good as the 2000 Ravens

I think the bears offense was quite a bit better than our current one. Led by Walter Payton as a team they rushed for over 2000 yards that year. That wear a team down clock eating type attack, I would love to have that right now complementing our defense.

Dude, they are about to give up under 200 points with a VERY lackluster offense.

Yes

They were shutting down awful teams and put up awesome defensive stats. They've done well against good offenses in recent weeks, but this isn't some historic defense.

The Defense got FAT vs terrible teams... especially in turnovers...first 9 games (9-0)...defense had TWENTY SEVEN turnovers, took the ball away every game, avg 3/game....last 4 games FOUR total, 1 per game, didn't take it away vs Houston...smoke and mirrors

Only in the 2nd half vs the Chiefs and a rainy game against the Cowboys

Of course it's a historic defense. Look how lackluster the offense is on the other side

Only 4 other teams have given up fewer than 200 points in 16 games.

All but the 2000 Ravens with WAYYY better offenses supporting their defenses

Fumble recovery and INT against KC?

Based on giving up 30 to Baltimore..
Well then I guess the 2000 Ravens weren't great because they gave up 36 points and got shredded by Mark Brunnell for 400 yards in a game

based on giving up 28 to Houston?
half the defense had the flu and even then it took the texans defense getting an interception to set them up in the redzone to get 1 TD and a blatant hold on 3rd and 10 to get another TD.

Or based on giving up 23 at home to Kansas City and a quarterback w an injured throwing hand
Laughable to think mahomes hand was injured, guy is known for playing it up for the cameras his hand smacked the ground and hurt for a few minutes, he didn't break a f**king bone or tear a ligament.

Also the offense was responsible for 7 of those 23 points. Wasn't the defense that threw an interception and setup the chiefs inside the 30.

chiefs had 11 drives and on 7 of them were 30 yards or less.

In fact after that short-field TD chiefs went
Punt
FG
FG
Punt (blocked)
Fumble
Punt
Punt
to end the game
of their 5 possessions in the 2nd half 3 of them were 3 and outs

defense even had a TD stolen from them

If the offense could have scored 10 more points it would have been a win

23 points is the 2nd lowest amount the chiefs have scored with Mahomes as QB

once again you prove yourself just to be an absolutely terrible sh**y troll.

77 Falcons defense is the GOAT.

Only gave up 129 points in 14 games being on the field the entire time.

It's not close

The Bears were unreal. I knew the SB was gonna be tough, mainly because the Pats played them during the regular season. Bears beat them 20-7, and the one TD was a freak 90-yard pass play to Craig James IIRC. Otherwise, NOTHING.

So to me, it’s the Bears...

...so far. :)

There are 3 clear cut defenses that stand above the rest.

1. 77 Falcons
2. 2000 Ravens
3 76 Steelers

2019 Pats are a cut below but still historic
