As much as I absolutely hate to say it, Brady has not been playing well this year.

Well that post was deleted pretty fast. Is Bedard perusing these pages? Or have the mods been warned?
Can't copy all but 2-3 sentences, that's a copyright violation. Have to keep it to snippets (ie: a paragraph or two) with a backlink. The mods are generally terrific about that and if they happen to be on, they've been instructed to remove them. I've gotten emails in the past from publications and paying legal fees to deal with that would be bad (my wife would be angry with me). So if you could all help me out, that would be great ;)

Obviously anyone who has a membership and wants to provide a summation - in their own words - of what an article is about or the points that are made, including quoting a couple of paragraphs (which can be pasted exactly) that's fine. But pasting the whole thing definitely isn't permitted.

Some of the issue goes back to Karras, I think....I haven't seen Brady step up in the pocket much to buy an extra second or two. Pocket hasn't been there.

Maybe Dante is falling off a cliff isn't he like 250 years old?

He’s great but he isn’t a miracle worker. And a miracle is what it would take to coach Newhouse into a starting LT in the NFL.

Also, I'm not mad at anyone, it's all good. Just have to be careful

It's nice that you aren't mad at anyone but let's cut to what really matters. Is your wife angry? 'Cause that "(my wife would be angry with me)" had me concerned for your wellbeing

I guess you'll have an apoplectic fit once AB returns.
I never have fits ;) Didn't when they signed. I didn't like it and if it never happened we would have more cap room, less drama and Demaryius Thomas may have been kept. If he clears through the NFL and if they take him back, it might work, it might not. It is a risk and I think a big one.

Unlike dozens of other fanbases, Pats fans expect to make the playoffs every year. Any concerns related to the Patriots are usually based on the teams they will face in the playoffs not so much the regular season. As TB and BB say, you don't win anything with a 9-1 record.

Given the above, the team will be facing better defenses in the playoffs, so the anemic offense is cause for concern. Granted, there is time to make adjustments and it is likely McDaniels has yet to totally open up the playbook.
All that matters from games that have been played is win/loss.
Every game is its own game and every situation is different. This type of whining happens every year. They play to win not to gain style points and one of the major reasons for the post season success has been the ability to self scout, game plan and overcome perceived weakness.
That’s just what it is. Crying today about only winning by 7 has nothing to do with what will happen in January.

I share your concern. Fortunately we do have 2 tall wideouts. Harry's contribution will be pivotal, either way.
In 2003 we had Corey Dillon & a running attack. Now, not much
Corey Dillon was on the Pats in 2004.

Not sure who is crying about only winning by 7. What I've seen are concerns being raised over the anemic offense by the forum geniuses, cable, and online media experts.

You may be perfectly comfortable with the production of this offense in an AFCCG or SB, but many others, including me are not.

If you don't think the offense has issues when even Tom Brady isn't happy then I don't know what to tell you.

The team without any offense in 2003 - scored 32 points in the Super Bowl

I agree but ratings without context can be misleading. I know you know that. I believe Brady's rating is more a reflection of the oline etc.. and not him falling off of the proverbial cliff.

Context is essential, no question. And I think it's obvious to many of us who follow the team that Brady would be one of the players that QB rating is missing on this year. I'm just talking about the utility of the QB rating system. It actually does a pretty good job of giving a general picture. It's certainly a better reflection of QB play than ESPN's idiotic QBR.

That Brady guy seems to be siding with those noting the struggles of the offense, too.

BUT WHAT DOES THAT GUY KNOW ABOUT FOOTBALL OFFENSE, AND ESPECIALLY THE PATRIOTS' OFFENSE??!!??!!

Physically, I see Brady throwing the ball and moving around within the pocket better this year than last. Give him a left tackle and a center and things would be different.
Give him a left tackle, a center, two great blocking tight ends and a fullback and ...

This may be an unpopular observation, but this thread is a lot like other threads I read on Drew Bledsoe back in 1997-2001. Many excuses are being made for Brady's sub-par performance like: Back up C, turnstile at LT, no pro bowl battering ram FB, retired HOF TE, no deep threat, etc...etc...

The question should be whether the Brady of old would have been able to make chicken salad out of this chicken poop? Look at the '06 - '07 season....Brady managed to get us out of San Diego alive in the divisional round....can he do that today? I am not so sure....

I wonder how much of the problem is David Andrew's injury. People have noted that Mason hasn't played as well as last year. How much of that is due to having to cover for Karras?
