Is Newhouse really that bad?

That's what I'm saying. People need to back up off of Newhouse's ass. He is trying his best out there. We went 8-1 with him in there and it's not like the one loss is on him.

If someone's seriously calling Newhouse a bad person because he's a ****ty LT, then I agree said person needs to back off. If someone's just pointing out that Newhouse is terrible at left tackle, why the hell should they back off? He's a terrible left tackle and you don't get participation trophies in the NFL.

I’m sorry but this isn’t tee ball, you don’t get a gold star and a trophy for “trying your best”. Unbelievably pathetic take.

When is it ok to hold the O-line coach accountable for the bad O-line play?
While we are at it, when do we call out Skippy for some of his play calling?
All I am saying is that maybe all of this is not on just the players but the coaches may not be doing a good enough job of getting these guys to execute properly. Just a thought.

Completely agree and my hope is we'll realize how wrong it is to scapegoat ONE guy for all the woes on offense.

My hope is that defenders of this particular player will stop whining about him being called out when he's been terrible. My hope is also that those same defenders will stop making claims like "scapegoat ONE guy for all the woes on offense", when most people have been more than willing to add other players and positions to the list of offensive problems.

Just asking the question has he had a good game(s) ?......ie one that he has been noticable in making several plays. Think you can only make that call if you have been to the games and watch his every move.....tv coverage is good but not that good !.....he seems to give his best but sometimes that's just not good enough......for a team and fanbase that demands faultless play:rolleyes:

Newhouse is a fundamental weakness on our O line and most people recognize this. While his pass blocking has been poor, his run blocking has been just as bad or worse. That said, our coaching staff picked him up off the scrap heap and the guy has done his best to step up. Has it been good enough? No! But I trust the teams talent evaluators and they have decided that he's the best guy they can find to fill in for Wynn until next week, when Wynn comes back.
I get all the *****ing and moaning about him because he's not done a good job. But, we are asking of him something that is impossible and that is for him to preform at at the very least, a least decent level. All the guys than can do this at a decent level, already have NFL jobs.

Newhouse has plugged a temporary hole and thankfully Brady didn't get killed. I hold no ill will against him for the organization asking him to do something he doesn't have the tools to do. How can you? He was in street cloths 2 months ago. If you want to complain about why we were left with Newhouse as the only alternative when Wynn went down, that to me is a legitimate complaint and certainly an interesting discussion topic.

Yes, but any LT who's good enough to be on an NFL roster has to be somewhat serviceable, right? Yes, he's gotten worked on some plays, but fans act like the primary issue on the OL will be solved once you swap in Wynn.

Fixed to remove the hyperbole, which makes it an accurate statement.

The entire offense looks dysfunctional IMO. That is why my eyes have turned to the coaches.

Maybe we should have planned a lil better in terms of depth but again at least we had a plan w Brown going to Wynn.

And another 3rd rounder. And a well regarded vet. It took a lot to put NE in this position at OT, none of which was a lack of planning.

This is fair but Newhouse's lack of athleticism cannot be fixed by the coaching staff.

Newhouse is bad.

But could it potentially be the loss of David Andrews that’s hampering this offense the most? Seems like we’ve forgotten about this.

When Marshall Newhouse was a little boy, he picked up a wiffle ball and bat.
He threw the ball up in the air, swung, and missed.
He threw the ball up in the air again, swung, and missed again.
He threw the ball up in the air again, swung, and missed again.

His uncle was watching from across the yard and shouted "WHAT A PITCHA!"

Both of them had no way of knowing that this was a preview of things to come.

It's not any one thing that has created this situation. It's the loss of Andrews, the loss of Allen, the loss of Gronk, the loss of Develin and the loss of Wynn. This is s **** ton of quality blocking that is now gone for the year and we have been left with a rather unappealing, second tier replacement squad.

If you're talking about your left tackle position, and you're counting on a guy coming back from Achilles surgery, and a 3rd round pick, and are thrown by a guy who retired a week after signing long before training camp, you've not planned adequately.

Thank you for this very informative post. Thanks to you passing this information along, the entire country will know that Aaron Nagler is a complete fool.

And here's Nadler trying to pull back from his asinine take by claiming that it wasn't actually a take:
