I wish bodily harm on him for the sin of not being good enough at football for me.

If you had taken a time machine and posted this thread at the peak of his unpopularity, I don't think anyone would be especially surprised or upset. He's always been known as a hard worker, good guy, etc, and I don't remember much if any ill will sent toward him by anyone here. In fact, I think we would have all been overjoyed to hear he found a job that isn't football.

So, to the haters who probably didn't exist...take that?

Jake Baguette? Sounds like Fnord's bread connection...

Great story to read

Very cool post.

One thing I gathered from all this is that he was about 245 when he went through Airborne school. That's a hard landing at that weight. I definitely wish him success. RLTW

Have always admired the Rangers, from afar, from Pont Du Hoc, to Viet Nam to today.. know they have morphed into something much different; more technical & difficult as time has passed, they all deserve our respect..

Remember this song well, even though it was a tad "hokey"...

Thanks for the edit check, I sorely need one. A bit surprised more people didn't notice the error. I guess I was looking for the easy way out and finding the n key is a lot easier than the q. ;)

I posted when he kept hanging around that Belichick liked to keep high character guys around, even if sometimes their skills were lacking, and I joked that he must be the greatest guy in the world. Nice job Jake.

That's not true. Plenty of "buff" guys have made it through. They don't give a **** what your physique is, or about any of the other stuff, height, color, whatever- the only thing that counts is that you cross the finish line.

That's all.

Good for Jake Bequette. Looks like he found his true calling.

My point, in using "buff" was guys with a very low BMI. I got that news about 6-7 years ago while speaking with Ranger school instructors down to Bragg. While true that tey will take MOST anyone, those low-BMI types had a very high failure rate, amouting to 100% in some classes.

What it meant for the cadre was to reevaluate what type of individual physical state, overall, was likely to produce the best Ranger. That's no different than what the Patriots use when deciding what type of player's physical set they want when drafting for a certain position, etc, or how they can "develop" a player for a particular role.

Not all military were eligible or capable of passing the physical demands of our elite forces.....I was more the cerebral type ...if I couldn't fix something with a butter knife or sledge hammer, it wasn't gonna be fixed so the Navy decided chasing electrons to fix things was more my style . Thus began my career as a Naval Aviation Electronics Tech........ :)

I liked this story. It’s getting me thinking longingly about Jordan Richards in a army uniform. Hopefully clearing land mines on a pogo stick

I feel lucky to have grown up in a country with so many brave young men and women who are willing to put themselves in harm's way to protect us.

Thanks to Jake and everyone else in our armed forces.

What a TERRIBLE thing to say. Are you really that classless, or do you just play at being that way on the internet?

It was meant to be funny. Don’t worry, I do not require any phony outrage or political correct tirades.

From 2012-15 Jake Bequette disdain rivaled Jordan Richards as Pats fans punching bag. When he was released after going on IR in 2015 he was forgotten faster than a Jets fan's hope for success, . I doubt there was anyone who gave a single thought about his life after he left New England. I know I didn't ;) So when I saw this article over at The Athletic, I thought it might make us rethink those negative thought about him.

Not at all.

I commented two weeks ago about what a winner this guy is outside the NFL.

He WAS a crappy draft pick. I'll stand behind that because it is the truth. Nothing changes that fact.

He is a fantastic young man and we all owe a debt of gratitude to him for reasons that have ZERO to do with the NFL.

No contradiction at all there.

6'5" and 200 lbs., sounds like he is in great shape..

Good for him, glad he is getting some positive attention on this board, when he was a Patriot he was pretty crapped upon daily.. something about how the 6 time Pats Superbowl Coach did not know how to draft.. or other crap.

I don't get the argument that because he is a great young man, we have to hold our criticism of him as an NFL player????

He was a terrible draft pick. Nothing changes that.

Great person and we all owe a debt of gratitude to the young man for his service to our country. What he's doing now is far more consequential than being a football player.

It's weird to state that criticism of BB for drafting him and keeping him for 4 years was anything but a complete waste of the team's and, as it turns out, HIS time.

Don't be afraid of the truth.

Moe Berg sucked at hitting also.

Easy to see what BB liked about Bequette and why he hung around for a while despite being a better athlete than football player.

Nah it was the floppy disk of BB nudes
