This Chiefs team is garbage

They’re not going 9-2 the rest of the way I’ll bet everything I own on that

Risky bet. I hate the Chiefs ok? KC is too close to the Ohio border but I wouldn’t bet against a 9-2 or 8-3 finish

Chiefs fans were telling me 19 - 0 this season.

The announcer for the Chiefs unhinged "Mick Holtus" has been preaching to the masses that the Dynasty continues.

Last Sunday, before the game they showed a baby pic of Mahomes and called him the GOAT.

The crazy train is off the rails. Mahomes is on TV selling everything from vinyl siding to life insurance. He already has his own logo. Looks like a Van Halen album cover.

His are more likely than not more real than Linda's...

Ya never know - he may have had his enhanced. He does some weird things. see: Jordan Richards twice.

I agree that there’s a huge overreaction here, though 4+ losses wouldn’t surprise me with that tough schedule. We can rightfully point out that their team has some huge holes, especially in the classic football sense, but here’s the key factor: in the modern NFL, offense is the most reliable indicator of wins and teams with a strong passing offense are most likely to perform consistently any given Sunday.

Other metrics like rushing yards and a lot of defensive stats don’t always predict performance well because they tend to be based more on situation and opponent. That’s not saying what the Patriots are doing is random and fully opponent based, but it’s to say in modern history there have not been a lot of truly dominant defenses and typically the better offense wins. I do hope the Patriots are a historic outlier. I just think it’s crazy to think a team like the Chiefs are going to be a pushover, considering that offense imposes it’s will most of the time.

The Patriots from roughly 2009-13 and again in 2017 had plenty of problems and were carried by the passing game, and they were certainly within striking distance of a championship.

Very thoughtful post and I appreciate the work put in and the reasoned argument.

I think, however, you have it 100% wrong.

Good, even great, Offenses can go into slumps. Good deep defenses rarely do.

The team with the loaded, deep defense has the advantage over a long season.

True, but there aren’t many good, deep defenses, and their success is often determined by more random factors like turnovers. Defenses aren’t even consistent year to year unless it’s a historically great team like Seattle’s secondary (basically won the lottery over a couple of drafts) or historically great coach like Belichick. Who were last year’s leaders? Baltimore? Chicago? How about the year before that? Jacksonville? These “elite” defenses often 180 and no one is surprised. Game by game there is much less predictability on how the defense will determine the outcome than the offense.

Here’s an actual study on it, rather than random examples:

Why The NFL Can’t Rely On Defense

Awkward...umm, the Patriots held the Rams to 3 points in the Super Bowl that this article is talking about.

The more dominant and longer they sustain that level of play, the more likely they are to be an exception.

I was being sarcastic.
You needn't have been...Wisniewski's been a good player during his career; and while he more likely than not isn't the player he used to be at his peak, he's still a damn sight better than Thanksdad was, is, and ever will be.

Kansas City's defense is like Tara Reid's vagina - anything and everything is allowed to run or pass right through, especially Tom Brady.
Don't talk about my girl Bunny Lebowski like that.

You sure?

Wisniewski's been hanging on his own Thanksdad reputation for the last couple of years. It's not like the Eagles' offensive line is 5 Blocks of Granite.

Am I sure that Wisniewski is still > Thanksdad? Yes I am.

Someone started a separate "Chiefs seem vulnerable thread". I'm posting this so that this thread leapfrogs that one.

Calling them "garbage" is more fun.

Although we all like to speculate, it won’t change the fact we have no idea how things will look come the last week of December

There will be some “yup, I told you guys” and some “wow, I didn’t see that coming”

I am glad we don’t know how things will go. I’m glad we have no idea what players the Pats may pick up and which players get injured

“That’s why they play these games”

Statistics won’t predict much.

Who could have predicted that losing back to back to Miami & Pittsburgh was just what the doctor ordered last year?

Does this mean his nickname is the Tin Man?
