King going out on a limb there.

Brady says he is playing til he is 45, so why draft a QB now? I'm all for finding a way to get Lawrence in 2 years. Keep an eye on Jake Fromm at Georgia, he will most likely be a top pick in the 2020 draft. Maybe BB can swindle a 2020 first round pick out of some bad team.

I agree with the first part of your statement (Lawrence will not be a Patriot) but not the second (Lawrence is about as sure a thing as you'll ever see).

He just finished his freshman year. I like the guy a lot but it's too early to speculate. We'll see how he does this year. As you know, a lot of college QBs regress.

Unless his #'s are spectacularly poor I'm interested in everything else tbh.
His arm is on another level. It's Josh Allen, Rodgers, Mahomes type crazy. His mechanics are so smooth & pretty for someone that size. Usually you get slow, unathletic, almost awkward looking. He looks like a stud QB in everything he does. I described him as Randy Johnson playing QB. From a a talent standpoint he has everything.
Now you wanna see his leadership, how he deals w adversity, year to year progress in terms of improving on something else besides the obvious. The little things.

Look out for Justin Fields too. That kid can play & looks like a young D Watson.

Since the poll was about this year and the lack of good QBs I think you have to go late round if someone intrigues you. Next year is a much better class and we can possibly position ourselves for that via trades this year. Now that doesnt mean if we have a high grade on a guy like Murray and hes there we shouldnt grab him up. I dont see anyone really worth going crazy for this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Belichick does like he did with Garappolo, someone in the 2nd round and takes a somewhat high end QB prospect that needs some time, they have two 2nd round picks. I am wishing they pick Will Grier. The guy is a warrior, a winner, is smart, has a quick release (which would be important for this offense). He reminds me of Garappolo, similar in size. I think he has a better arm. The one difference between him & Garappolo, he's already married with a daughter.

Like Daniel Jones from Duke as well, but he may go in the 1st.

Any love for Will Grier, i think the kid is unreal would be worth a second

No love for Danny Etling?

No.

I think they'll take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round this year. They've carried three QBs in the past, and did a nice job with Garropolo and with Brissette behind Brady. There are no indications that Danny Etling is more that PS insurance. There are some good ones in this draft who will fall into the rounds 2-3 range. I'm a big fan of Kyle Shurmer out of Vanderbilt or Clayton Thorson out of Northwestern. Both are big kids with success in major D1 conferences. Neither is ready to start and will need a year or two experience to step in.

Just watching that Netflix series, QB1, man, Fromm was super competitive in high school, really driven and obsessed with football. At least in comparison to the other two QB's on the show.

Because just because Brady says it or even believes it doesn't make it true, and no competent front office would ever assume it to be true.

I don't see it. They're "all in" on Brady for next year and those draft picks would be better used on replacing the players we're losing to FA and retirement.
I don't really know whether any late round QB has any better potential than Etling.

Think the 2020 and 2021 QB classes have the potential to be extremely good. The Patriots are likely to be picking outside of the range of the best one or two QBs in those drafts, but the fact that there are multiple top-5 QBs expected to be worthy of picks suggests that they'll have choices with much more talent when they're up in the 1st or 2nd.

Heck yeah. I've never understood the whole heir apparent thing. I know some is having a cheap backup we can flip for an asset later, but it has still burned my bacon that Brady has always given hometown discounts, and yet the WR cupboard is so often bare.

It's sports. You can't compete for a championship every year forever....not even if you're the Patriots!

I'd rather have some terrible years post-Brady, and load up with as many guys as possible who will make an on field impact (as long as Brady had gas in the tank) instead of having guys holding a clipboard while Tom's still around. The half-in, half-out draft strategy should finally end.

Apparently, the Pats with Brady can compete for titles with the lower value WR's that they've had. The proof has been right in front of us for 18 years. Once Brady's gone they'll probably need those shiny hood ornaments more.

Neither do I, but I will remember that the times BB had to win without Brady, he found a way to go 11-5 with Cassel, 2-0 with Jimmy G and 1-1 with Jacoby Brissett

Belichick also had a 36-44 record and 1 winning season in 5 years with the Browns. That makes him a .500 HC without Brady.

Exactly, we will probably never see the #1 overall pick but if we can trade our 1 this year. Have multiple 1's/2's going foward we could get in the lottery for a chance at a Tua, Herbert, Love etc

*Edit*
I understand most want us to pick an impact player but they'll be plenty after Rd1 & we have enough picks to move up early 2nd if we want.

Coming off a SB W w multiple top 100 picks. We're doing ok.

I'll gladly take the flames, but I'm all in on Tua.
