Adam Gase has the Dolphins in playoff contention
But this season, through Week 11, the Patriots have just a two-game lead in the AFC East over the surging Dolphins, winners of five-straight games, and it could get a little tighter thanks to the coaching job done by Adam Gase and defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

This isn’t to say the Patriots’ reign atop the AFC East is in danger, because their schedule down the stretch—28th-most difficult according to FootballOutsiders.com; Miami is 19th—makes them the prohibitive favorite, but it could get interesting. The Dolphins have the 49ers, Ravens (away), Cardinals and Jets (away) the next four weeks. The Patriots have the Jets (away), Rams, Ravens and Broncos (away). Given the way the Dolphins tend to play close games (they are 19th with plus-2 net points) against everyone, and the Patriots’ evolving issues on defense, the next month could shake out a number of different ways.
Schedule for the next 4 games kinda favors the dolphins. We just need to win our home games at least in the next 4.

The reality is we're up 2 games but play them Week 17. If they gain one, that last game looms large. Not sure who would win the tiebreaker if Miami wins Week 17, we'd split H-H. As of now have the same # division losses. Miami has two more Conference losses, if we were to lose to them and the extra loss were in conference (Rams are only NFC game left) it would go deep into tiebreakers.

Bottom line, we could use a Dolphin loss for some breathing room.

It must be intriguing to be a fan of a team where you don't know who is going to win your division before the season starts.

Yeah, they could...but they won't in the end.

wait a minute, for this to matter, the dolphins have to win out and the pats lose 2 games. the latter could happen, but there is no way in hell the former happens. I mean we are talking about the dolphins right?

Narratives are fun. The Dolphins were 5 minutes away from a 10-0 loss and everybody declaring their season over. Now look where we are.

Last month we had to hear all this about the Bills. When they beat the Patriots to go 2-2, everyone immediately said they would be 5-2 and playing for 1st place the next time the Pats and Bills met. Instead it's Thanksgiving, they're 5-5 and fading fast.

Now Miami has the hot hand. Whoop de doo. It is a lot easier to go from last place to 2nd place in the division than it is to go from 2nd place to 1st.

Bedard's wet dream is for Miami to win the afc east
