Figured that the sole session today would be interesting. I was wrong. Minimal contact and not as interesting as the typical pads sessions.

First, shocking news. Someone snuck in and wore #6. Hanson was punting exceptionally well this afternoon. Watched 3 seperate sessions where he boomed the ball for hang time and distance consistantly. Not every punt was perfect but most were. In the last session, punting from across the 50, he dropped the ball dead inside the 5 several times in a row. The punting team had plenty of time to get there and down the ball but they didn't touch it as the ball turned over perfectly and landed dead.

Started off with wimpy quarter speed jog throughs by both the O and D. Vrable was back at OLB. Mayo lines up inside with Bruschi, he's clearly gonna be a starter at least Thursday night.

As to the QBs, Brady was not there, a plus to someone like me wanting to see the others. While each had their moment yet again none of them were impressive. I'm spoiled having watched Bledsoe and Brady debut but this crew does not inspire confidence. Maybe they need a few more weeks work.

On the 7 on 7 Stupar blew the motion play and the coaches yelled, "Get your ***** outa there" to the amusement of the crowd. Watched Pollard who is very smooth as a receiver. Gaffney dropped a beautifully thrown pass in the back of the EZ.

Isolated on Chad Jackson, no not because I get that feeling down my leg at his ripped body that many posters here get, but because of the controversy surrounding him. He did not get much action from the QBs but what he did, he did well. On one 20 yd slant out he was well covered by Richardson who made the mortal mistake of not facing the ball. Jackson turned, went up high and caught a great pass from Gutz. On another play the QB rolled right while Jackson from right split end went downfield and split the zone wide open perfectly but the QB (forget who EDIT: Reiss said Cassel) threw the ball short to Stupar, who dropped it. Kid had a really bad day.

They did some goal line stuff but despite ppads they were playing touch football. I had more contact in frat league touch football at Tufts than on the field today. Anyhow, what was interesting was several lineups with various TEs as the blocking back for the run. Obvious planing for no depth at FB and keeping 93 injury free.

Slater 'looked' good returning KOs in the limited touch environment. He played FS and covered Welker on a deep pattern from Cassel where it looked to me that Welk pushed off at the end but droped the ball. Slater is a LOCK to make the 53 and the gameday roster.

As usual one player consistently stood out. Spann had the only INT of the day (on Gutz) and later turned in a goal line sweep by Evans, thwarting the play. It's gonna be really hard to cut this guy.

what has tank williams been relegated to?

Sorry to hear you got a crappy practice. It sucks when you go to one camp a summer and you see a crappy one. That has happened to me a number of times over the years.

Thanks for the update though.

Nice analysis, Mistah Pissah. I almost went today, but decided it wasn't going to be a good practice. Hoping now for early next week.

This CJ stuff is really confusing. Frustrating to have to wait for the games before deciding if he can play. :)

Edit: didn't mean that to sound snarky. A bad day watching the Pats practice still beats a good day in the office.

Wicked pissah analysis, PWP.
I'm encouraged by what you wrote about Hanson.
What is this guy? Jeckyll and Hyde!?

Great to hear more good things from Spann and Slater, both of whom I expect to make it. Stupar is PS material, but I wonder where Pollard winds up? Reiss says he keeps 5 RBs and 2 TEs, but I wonder...

No, Ken Walter.

Slater a LOCK. That's a pretty bold assumption. If he doesn't make the 53 he will never clear waivers to get to the PS. Our draft picks never do. Not with 31 other teams searching for an inside look at what an 18-1 team does behind the scenes.

Me thinks he gets IR'ed(shirted) this year and contributes next year.

Nice post...but this part made LMAO!!

A bit from Reiss...

"rookie cornerback Terrence Wheatley batted away a Matt Gutierrez pass intended for receiver Jabar Gaffney in the back right-hand corner of the end zone. In 11-on-11 work in the red zone – which was not at full speed -- cornerback Fernando Bryant tipped away a pass intended for receiver Chris Dunlap in the back left-hand corner of the end zone."

Maybe I was too hard on Jabbar for the 'drop' as the play was at the corner of the far EZ from me, if the pass was tipped which given my low viewing angle it well could have been. So much for vaunted 'eye witness' testimony. Also, apparently it wasn't Richardson covering Jackson as I'd said.

Same here. BB's had some great things to say about Marcus especially in regards to how much experience he brings to the team and how professional he is; two things BB values a lot.

Thing is, BB can value lotsa things but he's limited to 53 of them thingies, plus whatever he can sneak onto the PS or beyond onto the 'Shadow Roster'.

I just got back and the highlight of the day was Jonathan Stupar being yelled at by a coach and being told to "get the hell out of there" He later made up for it by dropping a wide open pass.

Also CJ Jones sure does get a lot of reps for a real long shot to make the team.

That is one Nut's view of a not so interesting session today. I'm sure if BB knew I was coming down he would have made it more entertaining.

The coach said "Get your donkey outa there" Substitute a word that Patsfans edits out for donkey. Agreed, CJ Jones got more reps than Chad Jackson. If we weren't so deep, CJ Jones would be a training camp fan fav. Speaking of which, Slater creates fan buzz in the stands.

Yah, I drove over 4 hours for a lackluster session. Bummah!

I liked CJ Jones last year, I thought he flashed in the preseason games. Forget now whether it was as a WR, KR or both. He has a shot, we have a couple of WR spots open although Jackson and Aiken are probably the favorites right now.

Yes, he was told to "get his ass out of there".

Hard to tell from players not going full speed but Mayo does look like the real deal. Others who have the look of football players are Redd, Guyton, & Rudd. We'll see how they actually play on Thursday.

Had to be where you were sitting, Pissah. I got a good view of that one and posted it correctly but miss TONS of stuff that happens down the other end. I think that's why it's great that many ppl chime in about what they see.

(And yes...17 IS ripped!)
