2027 Watch List

Talk about a tape of two halves. I haven't been that high on Ty Benefield up to now based on some limited twitter cut ups and after watching the first half of this cut up, I was fully ready to admit I was completely wrong. He shows excellent range both in run support and centerfield coverage. There was one play where he ran 40 or 50 yards to make the tackle.

And then from 3:19 it turns into a bit of a sh!t show. Poor man coverage reps, blown coverages and missed tackles. I appreciate the creator giving us a warts and all look at these prospects. Too many 'highlight' reels just give the good stuff.

He's not Arvell Reese powerful, but this cut up of Kynggston Viliamu-Asa (I've learned how to spell his name now) is a fun time.

You've still got it wrong. It's KynGstoNN.

No one is Arvell Reese powerful. Not Superman. Not The Hulk. Not Thor. Not Thanos.

But KVA and Chris Cole seem powerful enough, and maybe a bit quicker and more fluid.

Availability is the ultimate Super Power I'm seeking.

Evan Johnson, CB, BYU
6-0, 185

82.6 coverage grade in 2025, following a 78.1 in 2024. More impressivly, he had 5 INTs and 7 PBUs, exactly the same as Leonard Moore.

I love how he doesn't fall for the false step from the WR here and locks him down in man

Only Moore and some guy from E Carolina had a better man coverage grade than Johnson.

BYU have some interesting potantially draftable players next year. Johnson, the RB LJ Martin, safety Faletau Satuala and linebacker Isaiah Glasker.

@mayoclinic was just a year early.

Some of the effort plays Mateen Ibiroga's putting in here, especially the first one, help make up for the missed tackles which he'll need to clean up. He might make Texas Tech appointment viewing again though.

Ashton Hampton with one of the best INTs I've seen. Still prefer Stukes' from last year though.

Ashton Hampton tackling.

I love how dismissive of receivers KJ Bolden is. True alpha dominance.

He's the near side safety

A better look

Bolden, Ellis Robinson, or Chris Cole. Who would you take if you could have 1?

Cole for me.

There's something in the water in Georgia

Also. Demello Jones is the 2nd best corner there? I'm going to be watching a lot of Georgia defense this year.

Cole for me.
I'm going to do some work on Robinson. I really like Cole too but I was getting tingles watching Bolden play. It's going to be a fun defense to watch.

Prediction for the championship game. The Georgia defense takes on the Notre Dame defense. One team wins 3-0....after double overtime!
