Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, has reached agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, sources told ESPN.

The initial reports indicate Smitn-Njigba’s deal is worth $168.6 million, making him the league’s highest-paid receiver on an average annual basis at $42.15 million.

Ah yes, all those teams that stack Lombardis.

thats crazy - qb money for a wr ...

thats gonna f up some cap calculations for a few teams...

Michael Thomas 2.0. Seahawks won't be able to sustain that kind of volume to him while others sit around watching.

Any wonder so many teams run into cap problems when every new contract has to one up the previous?

I really wish the NFL would find a way to reign this in?
And it's not even a case of the next guy getting an extra $100,000 per year or something. Jaycee Horn was the highest paid corner ever at $25 million a year. He held that title for all of one week, then Stingley signed his extension that paid him 20% more annually. One week later deserved an extra $5 million a year for some reason.

I know the cap goes up, and the money is sort of relative, but at some point they will have to pay the QB as well. Seems like an awful lot of $$ to tie up on one player

It won't even look that big a contract within a year or two the cap is always going up the longer you wait the more expensive it gets, todays price isn't tomorrows price there's gonna be another highest paid guy soon then a second highest paid guy and before you know it he's barely in the top 5.

Pats are just costing themselves more the longer they wait on Gonzalez, that deal should have been done yesterday.

Everyone knows what it's going to cost, it's 4 years at about 31m a year today that's the market and he shouldn't sign for less and by next year it'll be 35.
